Dread...

Quote Quote Modify Modify

I have been  dreading this post, but I knew it was coming....looks like it's official...I got hit pretty good this afternoon, bout an 8 for an hour or so....nice way to start my afternoon. Been shadowing pretty hard for the last couple of weeks so it ain't no surprise.

Thanks to yall I am more prepared than I have ever been....the War Chest is stocked......still feel like shit though.....I forget just how bad this hurts and how much it takes out of me....even this first one. I hope it ain't a long cycle...last year was pure hell.

Missed Dinner and everything.....I hate this shit.

Suddenly I am painfully reminded just what this is all about. I am OK, I just thought I would start the whining now.....more later   Wink

Poor you.
I hate that dread feeling when the shadowing starts and you think "Oh shit, here we go"
If it's any consolation, like you, for my last cycle I got 'tooled up and ready' , stacked up the 02 drugs etc, warned the husband/dog/kids etc, bought loads of food for the family, then...

It was a really easy cycle to manage, just one hit most nights, quite a lot of sleep, meds worked, life went on.

You never know Mark!

Add "Breathe Right nasal strips" to your war chest. They might help while you are sleeping at night---more O2 going in aint a bad thing. Helped me, hope it helps you. By the way, sharing isn't whining. Need to brush up on your whining technique but hope you won't have to use it . PEDFAN bro.

Mark, sorry your time has come to fight the beast.  Angry Hang in there honey and kick some ass.
Last year I also shadowed for a few weeks before it blasted me and have been kind of walking on eggs now each time I feel any bit of pain.  But like you, thanks to this family, I am well prepared this time.
Lets hope the beast runs when he sees all your weapons...

Hi Mark,

"Suddenly I am painfully reminded just what this is all about."

Know exactly what you mean, every attack seems new. I can't remember from one attack to the next, no matter how many, how long or how severe they really are. It's a shocker every time.
Feel free to whine or complain all you want in here, I can attest to the fact that you will receive nothing but compassion and support, and all pride aside, we can really use it.
My prayers are with you that you have a very short cycle ... no strike that ... that you skip your cycle and enjoy as many pain free days as possible.
If it gets tough, keep talking to everyone, this is an amazing group of friends,

Sorry Mark,
As soon as I forget how much these things suck I get reminded as well. You'll be on the other side soon.
My first one for this season came just as I sat down to eat dinner at my folks house after driving for 7 hours to see them.

Mark,
Sorry you had to come to the prom. Seems like this is the time a lot of us are dancing with the damn demon.

What I miss most is the sleep.... I'm old and I enjoy my sleep.. I NEED my sleep and the *(((&^&^ knows it!!! He wears me out and then won't let me sleep. That's what really ticks me off the most.

Last night I took a shot of DHE 45 (it WILL stop the pain when nothing else does- for about 6-8 hours), sucked down about 15 minutes of O2, took an Ambien and GOT me some sleep - showed that jerk a thing or two. OF course about 3 this morning he got in his warning and I knew it was time to get my rear out of bed, but I do feel better than I have in about 4 or 5 days. At least I have the energy to "fight" today.

Don't know what you've got stockpiled, but if you can get some rest in between hits - DO IT. Gotta keep up some strength to fight. That seems to be the hardest part of this whole mess. We get so "tired" and don't have the strength to fight off the next attack. The DHE and Ambien work for me, but I just can't do it very often because it makes me feel like hell the next day. Damned if you do and damned if you don't.

Fight fight fight and know we're all here for you......

I'm just hoping everything you have to take will make the cycle shorter than normal, I'll keep everything crossed for you.  Feel free to bitch away, you've listened to me bitch enough, it's time for me to return the favor..... ;D

Kick ass and hang in there.....major vibes headed your way.

I really hope this cycle is really short.  Sometimes it happens...  Why not this time!!!!  At least you are equipped to fight the bastard right at the beginning of the cycle.

I am humbled by all of your responses and PM's...thank you all so very much. The vibes must be working because it ain't returned today...yet. Powerful shadows but I can live with that.

When I first came here I was so full of self-pity.....jonny took care of that  Grin....since I have been here I have become grateful for a couple of very important points.

First, I am episodic....hell I have had most of this year PF...I had never heard of the term chronic before I came here....you guys and your supporters are the real heros here...

Second, there was a thread a little while ago talking about being a supporter and seeing a loved one have an attack.....I am so grateful it's me and not my kids or family member. I really believe that would be the only thing that would hurt worse than me having an attack..

And C....I got enough meds, both legal and otherwise to get through this cycle....hopefully better than ever!

I have learned more about my disease in the last year than the previous 2 decades before I found yall.

Thank you DJ very much.....and thank you too Family.

I love you guys!
Mark
