oxygen costs

I got a prescription for one month of oxygen. I do not know if my insurance will pay it. I will find out tomorrow but my headache wants to know tonight. Does anyone know what the cost is for this. Your help is greatly appreciated. THANKS

Okay, this sounds really stupid (I just can't remember how to do percentages...duh), but I paid $17 for a month. This is 20%, my insurance paid 80%
I got the set up from the local med supply company.

as to costs: YMMV*....depends where you live, what $^(&%^$ insurance you have, and how willing-to-be-taken-advantage-of you are.... I have heard some real horror stories here, including a Doctor whose insurance was paying something like $123 per refill... and Camerooski'sMom... who also got bent over pretty good.
You should reasonably expect to pay $75-125 for a regulator-- $40 for an E tank-- $3 for an NONREBREATHER mask(accept no other)-- zero-nothin-nada for this information-- and ya oughta send $25 to OUCH every year: don's yacht needs new oars.....

We pay $30 for the big tank and $15 for the portable. I don't remember what the rental is on the regulator.....we bought them years ago and I don't remember what the purchase price on those was either.
Some insurance companies cover the cost. Sometimes it takes a fight to get them to do it but with a script from the doctor they should and it would be worth an appeal if they refuse.
Call the medical supply people in your area.....they can give you the numbers.

My setup was $350 back years ago (probably more now) and I bought it. The refills I don't know about - had a friend at the place who forgot to put the invoices down.
Now hubby is on O2 and I sorta "use" his. Medicare pays for it. I'm trying to figure out how to put my regulator on his O2 making machine. They gave him one of those as well as the portable bottles. But the regulator on the electric machine only goes to 5 ltrs. I couldn't get the nice little guy to put a bigger one on there. Ok- I'm not proud - I tried.
Anyhow, whatever it costs - it's worth it if it works.

We didn't have a 'set up' cost.....just presented the script and they brought the tank with the regulator....we paid for the mask (minimal cost). We did pay rental on the regulators and then decided to buy them when we figured out it might be a long run.

no,its a month, and thats just for the bottles, mask, reg, and stand the O2 itself I believe is basically free. hehe I kept the gear the entire "PF time" ya know....Just in case........ ;D

My Neuro told me in a off the record way that welders oxygen is the same as what the hospitals use. Welders O2 has to be pure or you will get bad welds. Welders O2 is much, much cheaper than the so called purified Hospital type O2.
I would bet that Jonny knows!

Ive been to the neuros today, and before I was able to push for the o2, (after all the info here I had to try it for myself) he offered it to me.
Guess Ill find out the price the hard way tomorrow, will keep you posted on how much us aussies have to pay.

Jeff, I am the one that stated that it cost me $18.00 for my initial setup. That included that tank, about 5 feet tall, regulator, two non-rebreather masks, and two 25 foot sections of hose. I just got a refill yesterday, and that was only $15.00.
I am getting my setup from a home health care company. They deliver it to me, and set it up. They are not charging me a separate rental for the tank or the regulator.
I am shocked at some of the prices I see posted here. I don't know why my setup is so cheap, but that is what it is.
