HELP

I'm in Las Vegas.  Have experienced CH on and off for 25 years.  I am now 35 years old.  Haven't had a CH in 2 years until this week.  It always seems to hit in Aug, Sep/Oct for a few weeks, multiple times daily.  Lasts around 30 to 45 minutes for the major pain and then a dull pain stays.  Execedrin Migraine (3 of them) usually helps around 2 or 3am when I wake up each and every night from a sound sleep at the same time.  Always located on the left side.  Feels painful in the temple areas and back of stiff neck.  Sometimes will feel pressure in the jaw, left stuffy nostril, and occasionally the teeth on the left side.  I've been through the MRI's and neurololgist studies.  Water just makes me feel nausea, but rarely vomit.  Now on an HMO with a Dr that didn't listen to me about the Sansert that DID help with maintenance.  Instead he prescribed Elavil, 25 mg, take 2 of them, total of 50 mg, prior to bedtime.  Was supposed to start that last night, but didn't due to my fear of overdose with my girlfriends Loratab and all of the Excedrin Migraine and Ibuprofin throughout yesterday afternoon.  The doctor did listen to me about the Imitrex that has worked in the past, but prescribed pills instead of shots or inhalers.  The pharmacy says that insurance will only cover 2 a day and gave me 6 pills.  They are 100 mg each and says to take one every 2 hours, maximum of 2 per 24 hr period.  My neighbor died, overdosed on Oxycontin, two days ago.  He had severe neck problems and was in alot of pain and took too much of his prescribed medication.  This makes me very concerned of me taking too much of anything.  But I want the pain to go away.  I understand the Imitrex may help within 30 minutes or so and last for however long it feels like, but what about this Elavil?  Does anybody have any experience with Elavil as a maintenance drug for CH's?  The prescription info says it may take a few weeks to reach its full effect.  Ok, my left eye is starting to taer and I am now in pain.  Please reply via email to GHWIESER@AOL.COM.  Thanks for anybody out there who is willing to offer their advice and knowledge.  Las Vegas
