Cold and wet in Kansas City. Rain just started around noon. No one moves to Missouri for the weather, trust me. It seems that July and August were all over 100 degrees with a major drought. The earth pulled away from my foundation, causing a crack that runs all the way down the middle of my basement floor. My house is listing, doors don't fit jams, etc. I have a quote of $8-12,000 to jack up the house. Then we had the Labor Day weekend deluge. Due to the earth pulling away from the foundation, water got into two rooms of my finished basement, soaking the carpet, ruining several bookcases (not too many books got wet) and getting into boxes of irreplacable family momentos. I later learned that none of this is covered by my homeowner's insurance. The Labor Day rains broke the heat and the drought and I've been able to open my windows for a couple of weeks. HOWEVER, I just closed them and may need to turn the furnace on later today. Like I said, no one moves to Missouri because of the weather. Carla

Carla, That Bites big time. Noticed a few new cracks in my basement also, but so far no issues.
