My neighbor is convinced all my problems with CH are linked to my intake of Diet Pepsi. I drink six to 12 cans a day. He says the aspartame can do weird things. I assume you would all agree he has no idea what he is talking about, but just to be sure (since I am willing to try just about anything to rid myself of this problem) does anyone have any insight into whether aspartame may be part of the problem? Thanks very much.

| Hmm...that explains what's wrong with me. Hehe. 6-12 cans of diet Pepsi could possibly be a trigger. I don't see why it couldn't be. Perhaps cut back on the pop. Drink water instead and see if it makes a difference.

maybe you should try switching to plain old water instead of all that Pepsi junk and you may get some remission? my friend was an avid coke drinker all his life until he had a heart attack at 55 which the docs blamed on coke and smoking. He gave up both 10 years ago and has been just fine since.

Don't know about the diet Pepsi...But my hubby was drinking 4 or 5 Mountain Dew in a days time and he had shortness of breath, chest pains...classic symptoms of heart probs. Went thru all the tests...including the angiogram and stress..... He had no blockage...no reasons found for the probs... Doc said it was a major caffeine rush he got from the Mountain Dew. He had been drinking them like that for weeks. No more mountain dew...lol and he has been fine ever since. Inquiring minds...........LOL Jean

Caffeine is a definate trigger for my, I used to be a heavy coke and pepsi drinker, and when I switched to water all day with colas at meals I definately noticed a difference and now I can't even drink anything but water because I love it soooo much!! I also have to stay away from garlic and chocolate big no no's during a cycle...

I know for a fact that aspartame is a trigger for my migraines. I have 3 friends that also swear that it triggers their migraines as well. So it is not just me. I can't have it in pop or food. As far as ch goes it has no effect on me. I get hit no matter what I do or don't do.

| Years ago...I would drink diet coke in that manner. I attrbuted the HA's (undiagnosed at the time) to the sachrin. Needless to say, I stopped drinking the stuff, and the HAs continued. On the other hand...caffeine helps me during an attack.

My wife has MS and it has been thought for sometime that the aspartame she injects straight into her cerebral cortex may have effect on the MS. Who knows? Eggs gave us cancer in the 1970's. It matters not to me. Diet Pepsi (et al) tastes like donkey urine in my opinion.

Ueli's right. This thing has been around forever it seems. It's one of those things that never dies. People have said it causes epileptic seizures. They had no idea I was an epileptic but they were so happy to learn that it was the cause. That moron Pat Robertson blames Nutrasweet for his prostate cancer. He's good at finding someone or something to blame. Drink up kids. Charlie

Not sure about how it effects you but if I drink or eat anything that has aspartamine in it, I will get a killer HA(not a ch but more like a regular migraine) within 10 mins. Sweet n Lo does not do it, but equal does. So he might not be off that it could be adding to your HA. Also the caffine can also assist to the HA that you have as if your body is used to having that much caffine, and you do not keep that level in your system you can get a rebound caffine HA.

If I had $10.00 for every friend/buddy,nieghbor,co-worker who's"figured out" whats wrong with me. I'd have 10's&10's of dollars. But I'd bet with confidance that drinking 6-12 cans of any kind of soda can't be good for our health. Try switching to sparkling water Maybe keep a flask under your desk.(just kidding) There's my uneducated/ free $.02 ....Mark..
