Is anyone here familar with menengitis? I was treated two years ago and now I have reoccurring headaches. The doctor's aren't doing anything but changing my meds. Truthfully, I am tired of taking them. If you have any information about menegitis or the lasting side effects, please let me know. I am grateful to any words of wisdom I receive.

Hi Martin, I had mengitis in september 2001 it was awful I was sick month before diagnosis and many months after.I now get headaches alot .they have been real bad lately I don't know for sure if they are lingering affects from menengitis or not but I got very few headaches before.I still worry everytime I get a headache because of too much light.hope this helps a little.just so you know I'm a supporter not a cluster sufferer if that makes a difference about meds question. I see this is your first post welcome to the board hope you get some helpful info. pfdan Minnie

My son had meningitis at 6 months of age. He never complained of headaches until he was 12. He is diagnosed as having both migraines and eposodic cluster headaches.

Wow! I am amazed at the response from this group. I have searched and searched for someone to ask, but no one ever responded like you all have. Thank you, To the ones that posted stating that they still have headaches after "recovering" from menengitis, have the doctor's given you any hope or insight into how to rid your head of the pain. I get headaches now that last about a week at a time. So, two out of the four and a half weeks out of the month, I am immobilized. The light, noise, movement, just about everything makes it hurt worst. I have gone from prescription to prescription to try to live pain free for longer than two weeks. This, of course, has not helped anything. I am a widow with three young girls. I have eliminated nearly all stress in my life since my diagnosis. I work part time and I have help with my house and children when I need it. Thanks for letting me vent my frustrations. It drives me nuts that out of all the medical advances doctors can't make you feel better, no matter what the cost. Julie

Hi Julie... in the summer of 2000 I had spinal meningitis... I had always suffered from Migraine but this definately altered my headaches... If you would like more information you can email me atRee16angel@aol.com the members of this board though they are quite helpful appreciate that we talk about other types of headache off the board... I have the same symptoms as you do... It also took me a very long time to feel well again. Migraine lasts a long time as yours do, and mine do too. Cluster headache (my husband suffers from them) are totally different. Good luck. Take me up on the email offer~ we could be great support for each other... as well as Minnie too she also had Meningitis and has a clusterhead as well for a hubby.........small world glad you found me and Minnie any way... Ree
