I'm not taking Depakote anymore, but when I did...I had lots of side effects ... including some serious tremors. I couldn't stop shaking for nothing. I remember trying to eat ... getting the spoon to my mouth and keeping the food on it was a real task ... LOL ... does anyone else experience this? Just wondering ... BTW ... I was taking a pretty high dose. I started off at about 500 mg a day and increased it to 1750 mg a day ... WOW thats alot, huh?!@#

I took the stuff for my epilepsy. 2,000 I think. The stuff made me hungry along with some hair loss. Damn stuff didn't work either. Never had it for clusters though. Doc took me off because it wasn't doing my liver any good. Charlie

I took Depakote ER (500mg) this last cycle, and found that the jitters went away after a few days, but the top of my head felt like it was frying and bubbling. I went to my neuro, and she reduced the dosage to 250mg ER. The side effects I was feeling stopped, and the number of my CH's still remained reduced to 1 a night. Good Luck!

Depakote made my clusters worse. Not to mention that it gave me partial kidney failure and I started pissing blood. Aren't meds fun?

I took Depakote for 12 days without noticing any effect, so i quit taking it! On Verapamil and Prednisone now and it has eliminated 90% of mh CH. The side effects are a monster though. Cannot sleep more than 2 or 3 hours at a time, too edgy. My head feels like i have an extreme hangover. And i can tell my blood pressure is way low because my heart stutters a bit, but Neuro told me not to change anything till i see him Friday, so i am trying to hang in there. I will say this though, All of that beats the freaking BEAST anyday! The other 10% of the Ch's that manage to breakthrough are relatively mild, none more than a 6 since last Friday! PFDAN, Patrick

I took depakote during my last cycle. I was on 500mg daily for 4-5 weeks and 1000mg daily for 2 weeks. It made ch worse. I was up to 8 attacks per day. I didn't suffer any side effects like tremors or hair loss but the doc did warn me about those side effects. I did feel really loopy though. That's about the best way I can describe it. Not really sure if it was the depakote making me loopy or the lack of sleep. (Didn't get a full nights sleep for about 4 months prior to depakote). Good luck and wishing you all PFDAN always, Linda T
