???  ;D  wauw what a lot of usful and also some not understood information. this all goos beond me.Everytime that I have replaced a missing file it asks for another. I have always managed to reinstall windows before, I give up. I have decided to let the experts have a go. My son is such an expert and is willing to reinstall windows from rockbotem scratch. This means that my boyfriend will have to be without his computer for the time being. He can use mine til he gets his own back. luckely we have two computers at home. Unfortunatly we wont be abel to use the home network. We just have to use internet when the other is not using it.

Sounds like you have got a windows run a muck. My last Win 98 instal kept loosing files, the final solution was that the CD-RW was dyeing and causing a big mess with the whole system. The moral is "Test your hardware". I hope you haven't lost anything but time.
