Melatonin at night

Hi everyone.
I have had cluster headaches for over 17 years. I have been using Melatonin nightly for about 11 months and I have not had a headache yet. I take a 3mg pill at night one hour before bed. I sleep like a baby and NO HEADACHES!!!!!!!
My clusters are between May and October. I have been headache free for the first time in many years. The Melatonin is cheap and over the counter. I have had no problems with the Melatonin. Good luck all.  Grin

Thanks for the info...

Forgive me for being a bit skeptical (I tend to be that way) but why even seek this site out to post that if you haven't had a HA in 11 months.  Some people do want to offer assistance with their experiences, and I hope that is truly your intention.  Ch sufferer for 17 years, no HA for 11 months and 1st post here...like I said, thanks for the info, but please forgive me for being skeptical.  I hope you can understand that I have taken all kinds of things that is "supposed to work".  That sounds so harsh, and I don't really don't mean it to.  I just remain indifferent about new information I hear about until "proven" I guess.

Regards,
Chris

Than try it. Why post your doubt? I am posting to try and help and you want to run me down. The melatonin is something that I read about for other types of headaches. If you dont like what I wrote tough. Chris dont be a dick. I was just posting my findings.

I have had good results with melatonin in assisting the early end to a cycle.  I believe that the melatonin in combination with increased verapamil did the trick.  I have been pf since June 14th. Here's a copy of a post I did on melatonin some time back:

I wanted to pass on some success recently with the use of Melatonin.  I have episodic cluster headaches and have been in this bout since early March.  Last week I started taking Melatonin about one hour before planned bedtime (Melatonin 3mg+B-6 2mg X 3 tablets from GNC).  I slept soundly for the first time in months without my usual 2:00 A.M. headache.  This relief began on the first night I used this product. I did awaken one time with a shadow that was taken care of by ice.

This relief may have been somewhat coincidential in that the cycle might have been tapering/ending anyway, but I do feel the melatonin has had a positive affect.

Anyone else with this result?

That smelled like a melatonin salesman...

Anyway, I used it to regain a sleep rhythm after an episode...just to kick-start the whole 'sleeping' thing that I missed out on for the last 2 months.  It didn't do diddly during the episode.

Hey FrankF, has another newbie been ran away, or was he disqualified by himself?

Should we just try something because it's recommended by someone we met the first time?
And for heavens sake, don't post any questions, or even doubts. This could start a discussion... what a horrible thought for a self-assertive guy.  Roll Eyes

BTW, I tried Melatonin for a month, but it didn't make a difference in any direction.

Well, I thought I put the little disclaimer in there...I was "trying" to be objective about it.  I know there are some people that have positive results with melatonin, although most in conjunction with some other form of therapy.

Regards!
Chris

Again, sorry for coming across so harshly previously as that was not my intention although I did say what I intended to.
