I stumbled upon this site earlier on today. It lists all (or close to all) the clinical trials for new meds and treatment of CHs. Granted it is lumped in with migraines but it does include CH!!. They are all over the US. It may be worth checking out. http://www.centerwatch.com/patient/studies/cat100.html Ozzy

I'd be carefull of these types of things.. My girlfriend almost participated in an asthma research on some new meds and it turns out some people are coming out worse than they went in. You have to be very carefull about these things, because basically you are the one telling everyone what kinds of adverse reactions are going to be listed on the side of the bottle when they sell it.

I agree with the being careful part (as far as legitimacy) but I don' t see what is wrong with relying the side effects. That' s what you are there for. That's what statistical analysis is for. OI found the capsacin trial at the New England Headache Center (the one where Dr. Bigal is from). So it seems pretty legitimate. Use common sense. Ozzy

I'll tell you what can be worse with those trials... I was in one that was a triptan study. The self-injectors were about 2x the size of an Imitrex statdose. Here's the thing... it worked like magic. I mean, 100% of the time, it killed my headache. Absolute relief with no side effects (for me). I thought I was in HEAVEN. Then, the trial was suspended. Some problems with some of the participants who lied on their applications... whatever. They not only tried to take away the meds I had still, they cut off all access to the meds and suspended research into this particular triptan (caused heart problems for some people I guess). I was, how you say, fucking devastated. You should have seen me when I found out. Cried like a baby. Haven't been in a trial since. -Fu

Just a warning for anyone that thinks even a legitamate clinical trial sounds like a good way to earn some cash while furthering research. It can have bad results. I eat some sort of capsicum every day since I live in the southwest US. so I wouldnt worry about things like that. I am just putting out a warning to people who might consider try new pharmacuticals. Imagine if the meds made the headache worse or caused longterm health problems. Dont forget about that fen phen crap. It even made it through clinical trials before they found out it can cause death. http://www.onlinelawyersource.com/fen_phen/fen_phen.html
