please email me and let me know.  Lori Choyce, one of our speakers works with an attorney to get people the medications they need.  She emailed me this morning and asked me to tell everyone about this.

She noticed that there were far too many people at the convention that were not getting the right meds or the right amount of meds.

So if you are in that situation please email me ASAP and I will get you hooked up with her and she will get you on the path to getting the right medications and having them covered.

2 questions for ya Cat.

1.  Is this a standing offer?  I'm not quite ready yet to bow to the imitrex injections but when all hell breaks loose things are liable to get ugly.

2.  Can she really help me?  I'm not in a good situation as far as imitrex injections.  They are specifically prohibited from my signed insurance contract.  It's not like I'm limited.  It's more like imitrex injections are prohibited... for everyone.  The problem is not really with my insurance company, it's with my greedy employer... kinda ironic considering what I do for a living... maybe it's time to move on.

Like I said, I'm not submitting to the injections yet... so it's not 'condition critical' right now.

thanks

Eyes, yes this is a standing offer.  She works closely with a lawyer on this stuff, so your employer insurance contract may well be illegal.  I'll get you the info.

Ree, that's bullshit, O2 is an approved treatment for CH, one of the 3 that ARE standard CH treatments.  Will get you the info too Smiley

Cat,
I've contacted Lori with our "insurance woes" both past and present.  She has already e-mailed back and we are preparing a case....

One problem is a denial by Blake's new insurance company for ANY Zomig...we appealed and were denied again.  I called them and informed the "powers that be" we could do this the easy way or the hard way....they relented and granted 6 Zomig per month....big F'in deal.  That's not gonna cut it so the fight goes on.

Thanks so much for the information and we'll keep you posted on our progress.

Yes - I just found out about the 6 Zomig's for 30 days yesterday when I am down to one pill.  I started crying at the pharmacy when they told me.  My neurologist took pity on me and gave me 12 samples to get me through next week.  I go back to her next Thursday to start steroid treatments which I'm hoping will get me through to the 30 day window, but JESUS!  Don't the insurance people ralize that we're not taking Zomig for fun??  That we REALLY need it??  I know it's expensive, but what are we supposed to do??? Cry Angry  My doc's nurse said that the people that make Zomig are fighting it out with the insurance companies... do you know anything about that?

I wonder if she could help with this. Blue cross blue shield has upped my insurance $64 per month and I have hardly used them this past year. At this rate each year is going to get higher and higher until I just can't afford insurance anymore. Raising the rates $64 just seems awfully high to me. I have only used my insurance for these things during the past year.
4 imitrex shots
1 bottle of verapamil
1 female check up    AND THAT"S IT!

I was having lots of problems with my ins company.. they would only approve  2 scripts a month for the injections.. I searched this site and found a help site from Glaxo Smith Kline... make a long story short.... I got a caseworker and after 2 weeks of her working on it I got approval for unlimited amounts .. Ive been out of this cycle for 4 months now but Im stocking up. I currently get 7- 8 scripts per month for the next cycle
Have you checked into this CAT?

Our problem is that we have no insurance.  He is too sick to go back to work, and I lost my job in May.  I'd be glad for the few pills the insurance company wants to issue, but We can't even get that.  We have to pay full price - $134 for two Imitrex shots, and $360 for 60 Oxycontin.

How can you get meds when you have no insurance?

To JC-Fla,

I don't have insurance either.  The three ways I have received free medications for this episode are:  go to the Imitrex website, they're offering a coupon for a free prescription, get samples from your doctor (I got them from my internist AND my neurologist), see if any friends have samples they don't use.  I had two girlfriends give me sample *triptans, totaled over 30 pills.

Also, O2 is not that expensive.  You might check the prices to see if you can afford it.  And, Verapamil in the generic is much less expensive than Covera.

I've also looked at websites for Canadian pharmacies, and their prices ARE lower.  Anyone else tried ordering from Canada?

Hope this helps even just a little.
