??? ??? I've not been "diagnosed" with cluster headaches, yet my symptoms all seem the same...my only question is, how often do they typically occur?  I started having these headaches when I was 19  (I'm now 23) and always have them the same time of year. They're always in the summer, but I usually only have 2 per summer, and last year I didn't even have any.  What gives?  I'm not complaining that they're infrequent, but is this still cluster headache territory?

It sounds like what happened to me in the beginning.  I started getting these things when I was 12 and now I am 23 and when I started getting them they were not as frequent as they are now.  I get 5 a day sometimes when I am in the cluster.  But some times I dont get them for a year or 2.  Just consider yourself luck when you don't have them.  Try hot water on your face.  Hot showers work really well with me.  Same with Imitrex injections.

Welcome and sorry you had reason to find us.

Do these headaches wake you of a sound sleep?  If so, they may well be cluster headaches.

In any case, I'm sorry for your pain.

Mine started when i was 19 and I only had one or two every spring until I was 25. Then they went to 3 to5 a day, April through June until I was 50.
Everyone is different though, so your milage may vary.
Welcome to the mayhem, sorry to see you here.

This is my first cycle that I started trying to find out for real what the hell is going on.

Mine started around 5 years ago or so and I usually would have a few of them here and there, but definately in cycles.

This last time got my attention though as I got multiples on consecutive days.

I had no idea what the problem was though until about a week ago so I cant say that I've really paid much attention as to when they happen other than what I was doing at the time.

My girls grandmother suggested using an extremely hot towel on my face...Not boiling!!!...because that's what her husband used to use during his sinus headaches. I figured "what the hell" I have nothing to lose. It actually took me from the number 9-10 headache of OMG I AM GOING CRAZY!! to a couple levels lower...Since then i have graduated to toughing it out for as long as I can before jumping under the shower massager and letting all of those hot little water drops beat my skull for me Smiley
