Just found the place after a little searching the web and thought I'd say hi. I suppose I've been living with this for around 5 or 6 years and only recently placed the symptoms with the illness. I suppose I never persued the cause, which I actually thought was something dental related, due to the infrequency of the pain and the fact that it would go away so fast. This last cycle I've been going through though has been considerably worse and I made a trip to the dentist thinking I had problems with a molar or wisdom teeth. After a thourough exam the results negative on any reasons I should be having pain like this and prompted me to look further myself. While digging through page after page of info on TMJ and teeth grinding, which I apparently do, I found a list of things that can be misdiagnosed as dental problems, which eventaully led me to the description of Cluster Headaches. Boy was I glad to know that I wasn't the BIG OLE WIMP that everyone that had ever had a toothache seemed to think I was. Since then I was recomended to try using a really hot towel over the hurting area for relief and to my suprise it actually took a level or two off of the pain and kept me from begging to a god I dont even believe in. From that I have recently moved to sitting in a hot shower with the massager on full blast banging on my neck and running over my face. It doesn't get rid of it, but it definately makes it bearable. I don't think mine are currently as bad as some of the other descriptions as far as frequency, but the last round seems to be hitting closer to the norm. The pain itself has always been about the same and lasts for around an hour. Previous to my towel and shower tactics I just wallowed in the pain and tried to use "mind over pain" but found it to only be effectual right up until the killer part at which point I pace around the room. At last I have discovered what the hell it is and now I am on the journey to beating it. I've read a few comments about the mushrooms therapy and was considering trying some, but since I have no documentation of the occourence of my headaches I have no idea if there is a regular pattern yet. I'm no newcomer to the land of psychedelics, so I dont have a problem trying them. One thing I would recomend is not telling people to take 15-20 of them without a strong warning that much less is needed of certain strains...you might end up sending someone to the hospital Anyhow, if this cycle isnt over yet(no headache in a day) then I might go out and track some down and give it a try. Has anyone tried this with LSD? I could probably get that easier than mushrooms and cheaper too. Anyhow, nice to meet you all

Hey Ow. Acid has been tried too with varying results. If I remember correctly, if one doesn't work it's worth trying the other because it still may.

Welcome Owieman. (I really like that the sign on) Anyway you aren't alone and now you have something to show your friends that you're not a wimp but a clusterhead. Clusterheads definitely aren't wimps. Stick around. There's a lot to digest here and most of it goes down pretty well. Charlie

Welcome Owie! Stick around... My last cycle ended in April of 02... My next (knock on wood) should not hit until Feb or Mar of 04. In the mean time, I stick around and try to help. I know how much it means to me just to have all these people here! Just knowing they are here and share this rare condition and have dealt with and are dealing with the same thing that I do is amazing and special to me. So, grab an oar! (I think Cootie has a bag of 'em) Sherry
