A positive ER visit

I ended up in the ER the night before last cause I couldn't take it no more, the HA's were coming with no more than half an hour in between and each HA lasting almost 2 hrs all evening and into the night.  I had hardly gotten no more than 2 hrs of sleep in over 2 weeks and I was just utterly exhausted.  The ER is the last place I wanted to go but my Hubby made me go.  The last time I was at the ER the nurses treated my like Sh*t and the doc was no help.  Well when I got there I was about 1/2 hr into the next HA and the nurse was so nice and the doc came right in.  I was in so much pain I couldn't sit still and I felt like my head was on fire I was so hot.  So here I am pacing the room trying to explain to the doc what was going on looking like a crazy person.  I told him I just wanted to sleep and that would be a miracle in itself.   Well to end this long message.  THe doc gave me two shots and withing 10 mins I was dozing off.  Well last night I had only a few minor pains here and there and the same with today.  SO now I'm keeping my fingers crossed that this is the end of my cycle!!!!

Taraann..what were the shots, Imitrex or a pain killer or something to make you sleep? Just curious. Heres hoping you are on the road to being pain free & getting some much needed sleep.

Glad you were able to find something to abort the pain and give you the much needed rest.  Hope all is better now and continues to be so you can enjoy life.

Sorry I thought I wrote what the shots were in my origional message.  I've been having pc problems and I just got the loaner pc online tonight.  The shots were imitrex and a narcotic(cocktail he called it)  that would make me sleepy the doc said.  I did not like the way the shots side affects made me feel...but it was worth the pain relief and the sleep.  (the side affect I didn't like was this feeling like I was uncomfortable in my own skin....does that make sense? It lasted for about 24 hrs after the shot.)  And for the past couple days I've had only a few small HA's (kip 2-4) and I'm getting them less and less.

Great Taraann, (pressed the wrong button, had to modify)

One of my problems @ the ER is that my chs typically last 45 min to 1hr, then gone for an hour or longer, sometimes if I'm lucky 4 hours. So what happens is I go in, give them my ins stuff etc/ meanwhile I'm in agony, then 30 min or so later I'm directed to the room, then about 10 minutes or so after the agony goes away in comes the Doc!!

I'm sure it must be much better to have the Doc actually see you in an attack.

I,m also curious what the doc gave you?

Good Luck,
Gene
