It's me again, this time trying to make the myth of mushrooms being bad and scary and evil, GONE. I'm not even going to go into detail into my expiriences with them (all but one super good) (the bad one was because of a negative bastard who was a downer) but this is a great, informative, reliable webpage all about mushrooms. http://www.shroomery.org/index/par/23041 if ithis website has already been posted, then I'm sorry for posting this post, and I'm sorry for assuming I could help, but I just think that some of you are just plain afraid of the effects. The effects can be great, enlightening, and honestly, be the greatest thing our brain and mother nature has too offer us. Oh, and the legal issue, the reason it's illegal is because of the chemicals found in mushrooms, psilocybin and psilocin and to a lesser extent baeocystin and norbaeocystin. The gov't cannot control such things as mushrooms because it can be cultivated in anyones home and they (gov't) cannot control 100% of the market and get all the profit. So, it's illegal. Fuck that. Read up on mush, and weigh your options, dammit, if it can help then please try them, as long as your are a happy person, with no history of mental illness, and are in a good environment and with a person you love, you WILL BE OKAY. Sorry for rambling, but read the site if you havn't, it's very accurate from what I know, and i've dome shrooms 15 times in my life, like I said, all good experiences cept for one.  Wink

um, HULLO?  the required dose for a clusterhead to find relief is a sub-hallucinogenic dose, DM.  These people don't do this for the buzz, ok?

I tried to read all five posts that you have made here, but my computer went into snooze mode (it came over on the Ark with Noah, forgive it)....so I was unable.

Mushrooms to treat clusters are certainly not done for the high.  They are actually done for the LOW - lowering of pain.  Are you a clusterhead?  Or are you a shroomer?

sorry if this sounds harsh - this just hit me the wrong way.  We are NOT a website to promote recreational drugs for the...recreation of it.  Forgive me if you are a clusterhead and you do understand our methodologies in this regard.  (I am admittedly uneducated as to your background.)  Please don't come here to try to encourage people to try something illegal.  We only go that route when we've exhausted all other avenues, ok?

You say "me again" and apologise for rambling. You therefore recognise that this is going on too long.

I think this topic has been done to death before, and is done to death here.

Just my opinion of course

DM -

In case you haven't seen it, here is the address for a website on using shrooms and other indole-ring hallucinogens to treat cluster headaches: www.clusterbusters.com

(CH.com regulars also take note - this is the new address for ClusterBusters web site and FAQ page)

Know that hallucinogens have been shown to be effective in treating migraines as well. In fact, LSD was invented by a pharmaceutical researcher looking for a migraine treatement.

Margi is partly right - for many, a "sub-hallucinogenic dose" or two or three is all that is required for CH relief. But some folks do need a larger dose, and they do get high. On the other side of the coin, there is also some evidence that getting TOO high may be counter productive for some. More evidence is needed.

But if the treatment is enjoyable, does that make it bad? Must medicine be unpleasent to be effective? Some medications can be addictive, but indole-ring hallucinogens are not, in the ususal sense, though they can be abused. If you happen to enjoy an effective treatment for a serious medical condition, SO WHAT???? I say: Bonus!

And why must we exhaust all other avenues?  Must we all suffer  the nasty and sometimes life-threatening side effects of prednisone, Ergotamine, sumatriptan, etc. before trying a treatment of very low toxicity?

Hallucinogens are contraindicated for some, but so are most medications. If you are seriously insecure, schizophrenic, or suffer severe depression, or just seriously afraid of hallucinating, don't do shrooms.

As long as you know there are risks, and act responsibly, what's the problem?

Sorry Wendy, this subject has not been "done to death." Not nearly so. Perhaps you aren't interested. Okay. Ignore the topic.

And DM - most discussions of shromms here at CH.com take place over on the "medications, treatments and threrapies" board. And some folks around here don't liike to see migraineurs posting on CH.comn at all because, in the early days of the site, migraine sufferers sometimes swamped the board with posts, and this site was established for clusterheads.

But clusterheads also need to realize the diseases are different but related. Those wanting to see hallucinogens legalized for medicinal purposes should welcome the interest of migraineurs. It could bring thousands, even millions, of allies to the effort.

Why are you indulging this guy. He is not a sufferer and he is not talking shrooms for "treatment" Read the visitors page. This guy does not belong here or any other place on this board. He's looking to hook up. Thats all.

Sorry. you could be right about DM. I don't know. I just wanted to respond to some points made in the thread.  And I don't mind talking to a migraineur now and then, as we do share some common interests.

And to clarify - shrooms can be enjoyable, but for me, after a while they just get tedious. And I just spent a bunch of time studying shroom treatment reports in the archives, and I get the impression that most who use this treatment would agree. If recreation is what you're after, there are better ways to find it. I think that's why indole-ring hallucinogens have never had any significant long-term popularity among the recreational drug crowd.

lol, no Im not looking to get hooked up. I don't even do shrooms anymore, I hate them now. I honestly just wanted some of the people that are afraid to do mushrooms, be more educated about the benefits and low side effects and therefore make a decision after they know the "drug" a little better. Knowledge is power. It may ease one persons pain after they understand there are a lot more benifits than the gov't wants you to know.
