Anyone got a website url for the proper kind of insulin syringes to use for Imitrex vials?

I'm lookin' for the pen type similar to the Stadose pens.

Thanks!

To my knowledge, Insulin syringes don't come in autoinject form.

If you're using vials, you'll probably need to learn how to inject yourself with a needle.  It's not hard, and if your doc is prescribing multidose vials, then it's the responsibility of his office nurses to show you how to do that.

If you're trying to do this on your own, PM me and I can try to walk you through it.

Although a bit pricey, here's an option to needles:

Okay... he prescribed me 10 vials x several refills.  I told him I thought there was some kind of auto injector.  Now I know why he had that wierd look on his face.  He said he wasn't sure he knew of any but if I did to go for it.

He suggested the fine insulin syringes that have a short needle fine needle point to where I could simply stick it completely in and inject.  The lady at the pharmacy opened one up and showed it to me and it looked very small... about like the Stadose needle... maybe finer and about the same length that it would inject.

I may take you up on the offer to walk me through the loading of the Imitrex.

Right now he's put me back on another dosage of steroids in hopes of remission... which is doubtbul but worth a try.  If nothing else I'll get several days of relief.

He's also still got me on the Verapamil 480mg at night which has cut back some nights and cut back the number of attacks.

He is tapering me off Depakote and starting me on Topomax, although I'm not so sure about it.  He seems to think since Depakote worked for me once before that the change to Topomax might eventually work.

Anyway... I'm good for a while on the Imitrex Stadose but within a couple of weeks may need to end getting the vial prescription filled.

Google for insulin injector. Maybe you find something suitable in more than 1000 hits.

Yup... I've read a lot about it here and I wasn't none too pleased with what I read, but I'll give it a shot.  From his cluster headache research he claims it has been fairly effective in causing remissions.

I did well with Depakote the first time around when it did't seem to work for many others it sent me into a 6 year remission period.  Topo being similar... he thinks it may do the same.  If I start going crazy with it then I'll just have to stop it and will probably go with Lithium next.

Right now I'm willing to try about anything for a short while.. who knows, maybe I'll be one of the lucky ones.

Hi Sonnie.
I do the exact same thing, and i hate needles.
I just ask my pharmacist for the smallest guage needle that they have.  You only have to have about 1/4 - 1/2 inch needle anyway.
There are many many different sizes and guages of insulin syrenges, you just have to have your pharmy pull out different ones and let you use them to find one you like.
And you know about using as small a dose as you can to get relief, right?  Some people get as many as 4 uses from 1 dose of Imitrex.  Because of the potential negative side effects of Imitrex, its a good idea to see if using less medication will give you relief.
GL with it and keep us posted.
