CH and colds

Last year my cycle ended right when I got a cold. I thought it was a coincidence, but the same thing seems to have happened again. I got a cold last Friday, and now I have been PF for 3 days...I almost never have 3 PFD in a row during a cycle. I hope the cycle is over. Has anyone else experienced anything like this?

My cycle just came on at the end of a three day cold, just the opposite. Still have a bit of a cough and it feels like my eye might pop out every time. Not a good combination.

| I agree 100% - colds/flu have a tendency to enhance my CH experience. Honestly, it's good enough on it's own without any help at all. Tom

For me this resonates with my history. Always used to get sinusitis that preceded the cluster attack - to the point I had sinus ops and know more antibiotics than anyone outside the pharmacy industrty ought to. Now it's straight to CH, but is there a role the caverous sinus plays in CH?

Maybe it's just a co-incidence. My cycle is deffinately ending, though...and it happened right after the cold. Huh. Strange.

| Are you taking anything for the cold? Such as a decongestant? The reason I ask is at one point, I used to take ClaritenD 12 hour tablets. When I took them everytime with out missing it used to help with the CH. My doc explained once why it helped I don't remember now, it stopped working so I have not thought about it for a while.

It is a tough issue as the sinuses are right there in CH territory, add some migranol and boy do they get stuffy. I think decongestants constrict blood flow which may help abort attacks for some people but quickly loses effectiveness. I have considered too much decongestant use may cause a rebound effect in the blood vessels and that will start a cycle. I try to minimize decon use during a year I think a cycle will start. They still come eventually
