Melatonin............

I have been taking melatonin since early this year. I started out at 6mg, worked well, then in my last cycle i upped it to 9mg. I still take 3 to 6mg every night even when i am not in cycle for basic insomnia. Do you build up a tolerance to melatonin? After a while does it lose its effectiveness? If you have general sleep problems outside of CH, is it ok to take it all the time in smaller doses? Thanks BMonee

Think of how stupid the average person is, and then realize half the population is stupider than that.

Clusterheads tend to produce less melatonin. This is true even for episodics that are not in cycle - it is a 365 day problem. So unless the underlying problem is remedied by some other medicine, there is still a melatonin deficit. I'm not sure about tolerance at high doses for prolonged periods of time. I have read something that said that the body doesn't respond to melatonin supplements by producing less, which is good, but possibly the receptors could change. I would try the lowest dose that works for you.
