Dihydroergotamine......(DHE)

I have had CH for about 40yrs and have tried all the usual things from Imitrex to Kudzu to O2. I have been in a session since June 5th with the average attach about a kip6 at least 4 times a day. I copied the write up from the neuro Dr that is in the Med info and gave it to my GP. We went over the report together and he did some research of his own and suggested I try DHE. I had 4 infusions last week and have been CH free since. Not even a shadow. I know it's not a cure but it sure killed the attach this time. The next time I get one I will try it again..It is sure something to look into if you have tried a bunch of stuff that does't seem to work...GOOD LUCK

| Ya, was a FORD man for 15 yrs... But now I have a couple of sweet Dodge's... I always liked the older Mopar's... Well stick around and make some new friends, this place is great, when you need someone to talk to who really understands what you are going through, even if you need to Rant or Rave about something. Its also nice to have some people around with experience, who can help the people here and the new people that come along. Have a nice Day God Bless & PFDAN's Charlie

DHE broke the worst cycle of my life and I've been cycle free ever since. Still get shadows and an occassional hit but thats it. Coincidence? Who knows.

awe yes, DHE. I Love it. I've had it many times. It never broke my chronic cycle but it did give me some breathing room when I needed it most. UNsolved (sp)

I like DHE too! I have been chronic for 13 years. I did have a couple breaks in the last three years, but always on some kind of drug. Sansert and DHE are the only two things I know of that can prevent a headache for me. I just inject DHE before bed. Sometimes 1ml doesnt do the job so the next night use two ML. Doc doesnt really like it but,,,,,, Sansert has it's problems too. I am off now because they found fibrous and water in pleura of my lung. Drained a little with thoracenticis. They think it is likely sansert caused. In a way I hope it is, and not something worse. I will have CT Scan again in late November to check size of mass. In the meantime I do DHE and Oxygen for those that come before bedtime. DHE has potential firosis side effect too, but pulmonary specialist said it would be okay. (also on lithium and verapamil) Imitrex doesnt work either. Sorry for the ramble. DHE does work for me too.
