Drinking the day after CB?

Has alcohol been known interfere with the effectiveness of the CB treatment?  I'm trying to figure out why my last maintenace dose didn't keep this current cycle away.

I wasn't taking any meds and I took my usual 1.5 g dose.  I did get pretty drunk the night after dosing.  Could this have thrown a wrench into the whole thing?

Is alcohol a trigger for you? If it is, that's probably why. I was advised to steer clear of all my known triggers for while...just to be sure.

Alcohol is a definite trigger for me when I'm in cycle.  I wasn't at the time so I did not get hit that night.  I did start a cycle a couple weeks later in spite of the maintenance dose.

Preventatives do not make you bullet proof. I can only suggest celebrating with Ice Cream while in cycle.

I wasn't in cycle at the time though.  I'm wondering if drinking so soon after dosing was counteractive.

I'm just theorizing but I have the feeling that whatever goes on during our cycles still occurs even if we are using effective preventatives, it's just not ramping up to full hits. Instead its kind of like an automatic software update feature that is processing in the background. Thereby, some triggers may still be a triggers and make it past "the guards" to ramp up to a hit.

That's why I say, the preventatives don't make you bulletproof. They simply may keep you from getting hit. Anyone else with alcohol as trigger able to drink when they know they're in cycle but using preventatives effectively?

No it should have had no effect.  Alcohol is a trigger for me.  I drink every day.  I usually get pissed while I'm dosing and it still works like a charm.

What level did youo hit on the dose and how long ago was it?

No alchohol at all with me even with alt. therapy.
Been doing the red wine = healthy heart deal. I am starting to think this brought me into cycle 6 mos. early this year. Only thing I can tag it on to.

Also....another theory (has been discussed here before), with an alt. therapy induced remission....it is not a full "natural" remission. Alchohol invites the beast back until this "natural"remission is fully achieved. How do you tell when it is achieved? no clue on that one...just better to stay clear of drinking before an anticipated cycle and a month or two after alt. therapy remission to be on the safe side.  This is all IMHO, but this happened with me and a couple of others.

Edit: after seeing flashes post...I may stand corrected. On the other hand (forgot about this, sorry) I have also heard of others drinking during therapy (helps take the edge off I think) and they have done well. I was too damned afraid to try it, but flash is walking proof and more experienced than me. I'll learn how to STFU here soon  Grin
