I take both.

Indo helps another HA type I have but does nothing for the CH. it keeps ice picks at bay though.

Super duper NSAID and I've gone up to over 100mg.still nothing for CH...helps other aches and pains too

E2 - You get that other headache type too?   (Can't remember the convoluted name).   I have recently started "ice pick" type pain, but different that the major ice pick that stabs through my eye.  It is short, and intense, but goes away quickly.  But it turnson and off frequently.  I hadn't thought too much about it though because it is minor compared to my true CH's.  I( thought it may have been a lesser CH.

I wonder how many of us get multiple types of headache.

Indomethacin is used more for paroxysmal hemicrania.  The symptoms of that type of headache are similar to cluster headaches,  though the underlying mechanism is different.

As part of the diagnosis process, many docs prescribe indomethacin. If it works, great, the patient probably doesn't have clusters, and they can control the headaches with the Indomethacin.  If it doesn't work, maybe its clusters, try other things.  A small number of clusterheads might benefit from this med, but most do not.

I tried indomethacin as a preventative on christmas before last. Didn't work. Just gave me a hellish 8-hour migraine instead of doing anything to my chronic ch.

My current doc would like me to use it as a pain med when I don't want to use maxalt. But I haven't tried it as a pain med yet.

I was given the indo for the less painful headaches. It worked sometimes, but never for CH. It also tended to upset my stomach. I get multiple types of HA. CH and migraines. As a kid I just got plain HA and took excedrin multiple times daily. This was before the rebound HA came along. My CH have not been bad lately, not any 10s. But I shadow everyday. Woke up at 6 today with a 5. Trex doesn't help those.

Anyways didn't mean to ramble on. I think Jasen takes indo and likes it. Look for him on the board.

Dr. Rozen said ... if the Indo doesn't work in 6 days, it's not going to.
