Kudzu/Melatonin/5-HTP

Hello:

I need some advice, as I've been reading a lot of different posts.

1.  Currently, I take 9 mg. Melatonin before bed and am getting ready to start Kudzu.  Is it OK to take Melatonin and Kudzu?

2.  Can I add 5-HTP?  I've not read that many posts on 5-HTP, so wonder if it helps others?

3.  I've read some say not to take Imitrex while on Kudzu, while some others say they do.  What do you do?  If I go off Kudzu, how soon can one take the triptan, Imitrex?  What about 5-HTP as it realates to Imitrex?

I feel like I've asked too many questions, but any help would be appreciated.

Thank you,

John

Hi John. Questions are good. I just wish we had more answers.  Undecided

I'm glad you've been reading, it's the best way to get info. The tester experiences are really the only info we have, except for Flo's book. I'll link it at the end.

Many have taken melatonin and kudzu at the same time with no adverse effects. It's not recommended that Imitrex (or any triptan) be taken while taking kudzu. They both have an effect on 5ht receptors. Some have done that with no adverse effects, though.
I don't know about 5htp supplements at all. There is info on them in Flo's book also. Take a look at it there. Kudzu and melatonin may be all you need if it works for you. Why not start there and see how that works first. Just MHO. I hope you get permanent PF time ~nani

I personally would not mix 5-htp and kudzu.  I don't know what would happen - there are 1 or 2 ways where they theoretically could lead to a better result, but there are more theoretical ways where they would interfere with each other or cause unwanted effects.

Hi John,
I tried 5-HTP about 6 years ago with no noticable effectiveness.  And I haven't heard of anyone else having any success with it either.  Maybe someone else will give some imput about it who has found it to work, but I wouldn't expect too much from 5-HTP.

Thank you.  I guess I'll stay away from the 5-HTP.  Does anyone recommend an abortive (other than oxygen) that I can carry around in case I get hit (like at 2:30 every afternoon).

Some people have reported good results from 'slamming' a cold Red Bull when the beast is at the door.

Olanzapine is both abortive/preventive if you are more oriented towards a pill.
