After searching the page for a while and giving up i post this question now. Hope that someone out there has the solution:

After beeing on CH for the last 25 years, i can cope very well now by taking IMIGRAN ( IMITREX ) injection and O2.
Last 2 phases been like a breeze compared to the years of pain before.
Now the bad news: 2 weeks ago i had a mild heart attack ( the good life thing  Wink .
I know that my cluster is due ( 1,5 years intervalls).
Now i read that IMI can not be used when having heart problems.
This nearly kills me. So what to do? Still take IMI or too risky?
Thanks all of you ,
Thomas

Hi Thomas sorry to hear of your current situation. If I were you I would seek the opinion of a medical professional. I'm not a doctor but everything I have read indicates that any of the triptans including imigran/trex are not good news if you have heart problems. They act as vasoconstrictors and that could well spell trouble! At least you should be able to continue with the oxygen though.

Hope you can get something sorted out quickly!

Now this was a hard nut to crack

My story is that i had a heartattack back in november 2001.My neuro said of course NONO to more trex.My cardio said use what you need to have a normal life as possible
And so do my GP to

Have been at a lot of meetings here in Norway and the neuroes here are starting to believe that trex is not that dangerous for the heart as first expected

Since my heartattack i have been using trex regularly and up to 8 shots a day.

Are you having anginapain since the heartattack?

Jusdt know that nitro is among the first thing the docs use to diagnose ch.Its trigger NR 1

Let your neuro and cardio works together on this one

X fingers for you

Here is an article that Bob J tends to supply....He has used this as an abortive with high rates of succes and it has been perscribed to me as well recently ( though I haven't tried yet)

Headache 2001 Sep;41(Cool:813-6

Olanzapine as an Abortive Agent for Cluster Headache.

    Rozen TD.

Department of Neurology, Jefferson Headache Center/Thomas Jefferson University Hospital, Philadelphia, Pa.

OBJECTIVE: To evaluate olanzapine as a cluster headache abortive agent in an open-label trial. BACKGROUND: Cluster headache is the most painful headache syndrome known. There are very few recognized abortive therapies for cluster headache and fewer for patients who have contraindications to vasoconstrictive drugs. METHODS: Olanzapine was given as an abortive agent to five patients with cluster headache in an open-label trial. The initial olanzapine dose was 5 mg, and the dose was increased to 10 mg if there was no pain relief. The dosage was decreased to 2.5 mg if the 5-mg dose was effective but caused adverse effects. To be included in the study, each patient had to treat at least two attacks with either an effective dose or the highest tolerated dose. RESULTS: Five patients completed the investigation (four men, one woman; four with chronic cluster, one with episodic cluster). Olanzapine reduced cluster pain by at least 80% in four of five patients, and two patients became headache-free after taking the drug. Olanzapine typically alleviated pain within 20 minutes after oral dosing and treatment response was consistent across multiple treated attacks. The only adverse event was sleepiness. CONCLUSIONS: Olanzapine appears to be a good abortive agent for cluster headache. It alleviates pain quickly and has a consistent response across multiple treated attacks. It appears to work in both episodic and chronic cluster headache.

I'm in the same situation that you are.  I would suggest looking into one of the alternative treatments discussed on this web site, psilocybin, LSA, or kudzu.  The first two have the great benefit that only a few doses are needed to end an existing cycle completely.  Read the discussions about them carefully before you take one of these routes.

I would look at all the options on this site and print off all the information and, armed with that I would go back to see the neuro and cardiologist and work out a possible treatment that won't harm you.

I don't know if its only imi that is bad for your heart or if you could take zomig or frova. I don't know if you could take kudzu as it acts in a similar manner to imitrex or so I believe. I don't know if shrooms or seeds are possible for you.

I don't know enough about anything to give you any advice, I'm sorry I wish I could!

I would urge you though to read, print and discuss all possibilities with those that do, namely your healthcare providers. Here is a link to a site which I think will be of great help, its written by a clusterhead from here, Floridian
