Trex = Longer Cycle ?

Does anyone know if using Trex lengthens the cycle ? I always used o2 before because of the side effects hit me to bad with the trex. After reducing the dose, thanks to the tip, the effects arent so bad. It is easier to use at work than the o2. I still use the o2 at home but at work I use the trex and am having the longest cycle ever and it doesnt seem to be tapering at all. Does anyone else have any thoughts about this ?

Many people, including me, believe that trex prolongs the cycle.  Like the beast has to extract a certain amount of pain in order to be satisfied.

You might want to consider a small E tank for the work situation if possible.  Also, look at some of the remedies that Floridian has put together in his internet CH book.

Subcutaneous sumatriptan induces changes in frequency pattern in cluster headache patients.

Rossi P, Lorenzo GD, Formisano R, Buzzi MG.

Objectives.-To document the relationship between the use of subcutaneous (SQ) sumatriptan (sum) and a change in frequency pattern of cluster headache (CH) in six patients. To discuss the clinical and pathophysiological implications of this observation in the context of available literature. Background.-Treatment with SQ sum may cause an increase in attack frequency of CH but data from literature are scant and controversial. Methods.-Six CH sum-naive patients (three episodic and three chronic according to the International Headache Society (IHS) criteria) are described. Results.-All six patients had very fast relief from pain and accompanying symptoms from the drug but they developed an increase in attack frequency soon after using SQ sum. In all patients, the CH returned to its usual frequency within a few days after SQ sum was withdrawn or replaced with other drugs. Five patients were not taking any prophylactic treatment and SQ sum was the only drug prescribed to treat their headache. Conclusions.-Physicians should recognize the possibility that treatment of CH with SQ sum may be associated with an increased frequency of headache attacks.

Well that explains alot! I noticed that I get hit more in the following days then I may go 3 days pf. I started to try the cluster buster but I used the trex the next day. I bring my e tank to work, its just the line of work that I am in, I cant go off and breathe it for 10-15 min.That is why I am using the trex.Where can I find
the remedies that Floridian has put together in his internet CH book.

Haven't read anything re lengthening a cycle but I fit into the article Bob quotes above.  All of the triptans cause me to go from 2-3 hits a day to 6 or 7 hits a day if I take them (so I don't take them).

I know that since I quit using trex my cycles are about 1/4th as long as they used to be and I get hit much less with less intensity as well.  This is just my observation about my cycles.  Every body is different.
