After 7 1/2 months-I'm one week Pain Free!!!

OK.....Quick history for this cycle.....Mid September 2004 I get hit after 10 months pain free...the usual PF time for me (although because of the meds I believe I have a longer cycle last time-5 months instead of 3)......

I refill my O2 tank and rent another one to keep both on hand....I make my Neuro appt and up the Zonegran preventative from 200 mgs a day to 250mgs....and I check my triptan stash-Maxalt for me- and I am fine for the duration as far as I know....Along about December the cycle is in full blast-expected as it would be my 3rd-and usual final month-so I hang on hopeing for the end of cycle....It seems to come and I'm Pain free for 2 weeks.....BUT.....My husband and I both get hit with bad colds and I get on antibiotics-The Clusters come back with a vengeance.....getting hit 3-4 times every night and 3-4 times during the day....Taking my O2 tank to work and taking far too many Maxalt and I'm having lots of tightness in the chest....I'm really worried.....I have an EKG done....my heart is fine...BUT I get off the Maxalt anyway....and start to pull away from my Neuro's advice to get on Prednizone etc....

I see the beginning of this thing called Kudzu working for folks...Its natural...I like that...I get totally off the triptan's as I think they were causing all the rebounds...I keep my O2 filled and by my side.....and start taking Kudzu.....I think it might have helped....I was getting hit some but not having the terrible shadowy days that Maxalt gave me.....

Then....I had to have some Endodontic surgery and after someone here found Kudzu to be a problem with their surgery I decided to just get off the Kudzu for the surgery.....3 days before.....FUNNY THING......I got off everything except my prevent......and the Clusters just stopped!!!!!

Now, granted it just might be the timing of it all....and I did have to start taking antibiotics during that time and I got a slight hit and I decided it wasn't worth it and stopped the antibiotics......and I've been pain free now for about 1 week......

I just thank God for whatever pain free time I have and even in those times I am suffering I have HIM to crawl to....and I'm grateful to everyone here for sharing all the infor and stories and experiences....That's how I leanr what I choose to do....

Blessings and Pain Free Days and Nights,
Karen

I suspect you were given an antibiotic because you had some kind of sinus, upper respiratoy or other infection.  Stopping taking antibiotics before the course is finished could cause the infection to continue or worsen and allow it to build a resistance to the antibiotic.  You should take antibiotics until the full course is taken, even if you feel better, unless directed otherwise by your doctor.

CH won't kill you, but an infection could.  Please be careful and consult your doctor before starting or stopping any medicinal treatments.  We want to keep you around awhile.

This reminds me.  I heard an interesting question on the radio the other day - "Besides antibiotics and antifungals, can you name one drug that actually cures anything?"
