Anyone found anything that works really well on that sore stiff neck on the cluster side?  I've got the attacks under control by the neck thing is really annoying.

Fiorinal takes the neck pain out of tension headaches pretty well, wondering if it would do anything for this.

It is up to YOU to educate yourself and then help your doctor plan your treatment. If you just sit down in front of your doctor and say "make me better" you are setting yourself up for a great deal of pain.

I use the heating pad and heating blanket almost religously.  Plus 3 ibuprofen.

Physical therapy helped me some....the relief lasted about a month.

For that muscle stuff, I use heat most of the time.  Some people have talked about putting a couple tennis balls on a sock and placing it behind your neck.  Good massage trick.

In my last surgery a couple of weeks ago, they had me in some awful position for either the procedure itself or for the airway.  At any rate, they also gave me Reglan after the surgery, which definitely contributed to SOME pain - possibly the neck/upper back pain too.  My miuscles were in a spasm.  I asked for a K-pad (heating pad with very hot water running through it) and a muscle relaxant.  They wouldn't give the muscle relaxant, but the heating pad, surprisingly...completely stopped the spasms and really helped. Hi,

I've got a friend who's a reiki master and she's done some pads for me that I wrap round my neck at night and lay some on my pillow and weirdly enough my 'stiffy' is much better!

Chiropractic does help me with the stiff neck bit (doesn't stop the beast from gouging my eye, though).  I may go the occasional massage route next time I get hit - had a five minute chair massage over the weekend ... there was a booth at a fair, $1 a minute, thought it would be worth a shot and it did help my shoulders, sore from being hunched over a computer all day.
