How effective are your meds?

I realize that we're not all dealing with the same beast (chronic/episodic), but I was just trying to get a sense of how effective other people's treatment's are. Since my cycle started about 2 weeks ago and I've been put on a mix of meds I've been avg about 1 CH per day - where as I'd be at about 3/4 with no treatment. Some days will be great and some days the shadows will be lurking. I guess my question is, is this acceptable? Do you strive to be 100% CH free during your cycle or just to be manageable? I'm so weary of trying something new that might be better since it often takes a few days or week to ramp up on a new med and who wants to suffer durring that time.

Comments I've seen in medical literature: effectiveness of 60-70% is considered the norm. The exception is Imitrex where reports suggests upwards o 90%. However--we are all aware that what has worked in the past may stop working. This an individual issue, not related to the specific med. Why???

Pretty effective. Without medication I would be getting 3 attacks a day. Each one 1 to 2 hours long. With medication I am getting hit once, sometimes twice a day but they are only 2 or 3 on the pain scale and only last 10 to 15 minutes. This I can handle quite well.

Well, in my case, verapamil 600mg has given me PF days, which is great! Sure, I've had HAs, too, but they have been shorter and milder, which is nice. Downside is that I've nearly fainted...twice.

I am pain free. I used to get 8 ha a day year round. It took a long time to find the right medicine. Good luck to you and finding pain control.
