Well, this might now be the right place to put this but as an O2 user and smoker, I found it interesting and perhaps even helpful. Oxygen tank fire kills Quebec man Last Updated Thu, 17 Mar 2005 09:45:06 EST CBC News QUEBEC CITY - A 65-year-old man in Quebec City died Wednesday night when the oxygen tank that allowed him to breathe caused a fire. Police are looking at the possibility that the man was smoking at the time of the blaze, which engulfed his body in flames. Pure oxygen coming from a portable tank can enrich clothing or bedding, causing small sparks or fires to suddenly flare up. The man died at the scene of the fire, an apartment building in Quebec City. His son, who was home at the time of the fire, had to be treated for severe shock. The apartment building was evacuated and a pregnant woman was treated for smoke inhalation. People who need oxygen tanks in order to breathe are warned not to smoke around the equipment. Many people need the tanks because of lung conditions brought on by decades of smoking addictions, however, and can't kick the habit despite the danger of fire.
