I know of one person who posted that they used both (once) and didn't have adverse effects. I know of one person who hasn't posted and had the same results. I also know of one person with migraines who used the spray after kudzu and it was ineffective (had always been effective before).

Just adding a little to what Nani said, who is VERY wise. Using both at the same time, you may want to monitor your blood pressure if you do as it could create a larger drop in pressure resulting in some possible side effects. Blessings, Joe

People, PLEASE - check with your doctors about interactions with triptans!! Don't take what you read on an internet message board to be gospel because, what, three people here have tried that particular combination and have been ok. Triptans are a very serious med - they are vasoconstrictors, which means they work to slow down blood flow. There's a reason "they" tell us only two triptans a day. Kudzu is having some pretty amazing results and we all thank Floridian for bringing us this suggestion - he's working hard to continually compile his research and my hat's off to him for all the work he's done so far. But, please - don't mess with triptans until you know for sure how they will react with kudzu! That may take years to figure out, as well. Hopefully, the kudzu will get you to a point where you won't need the triptan, but if not, please be careful!!

Actually, Imitrex produces tachycardia and higher blood pressures, which is why Imitrex is contraindicated for patients with heart problems. Verapamil and kudzu reduce blood pressure, and this interaction is one to be careful of. I don't believe enough is known about how kudzu and Imitrex interact, but it may be that kudzu interferes with the efficacy of triptans. Is this correct, Floridian?

If I'm not mistaken, they also have an effect on the same receptors...5HT (?) I remember reading that early on in the first thread.

At this point, there is just speculation and cautions based on possible interactions. Verapamil and the triptans are two widely used meds for cluster headache, and kudzu seems to have some hypothetical overlap with both - a calcium channel blocker/blood pressure lowerer, and a sertonin stimulator.

Thanks floridian. Both my neuro and my doctor said that both are vasoconstrictors which would BOTH lower blood pressure and recommended that I use one or the other but not both at the same time, but I'm sure time and evidence will play this out for the good of all. Blessings, Joe
