For the first time in years, I've haven't taken any prescription drugs for my CHs since I got sick of drugs that don't seem to help. I've only been taking 9 mg of melatonin at night. This has helped reduce the intensity of the pain quite a bit though it hasn't got me through the night. When I'm in a cycle, my scalp gets very tender and I can almost induce a CH just by touching the wrong spot. The last few nights, in order to see if I can reduce the inflamation, I took 800 mg of Ibuprofen along with the melatonin. Seems to have done the trick, I'm now sleeping through the night and my scalp is almost pain free. Something to try to help alleviate the pain.

Be careful with the ibuprofen...it can cause rebounds. Glad you got some relief...

Before I knew what my CH's were, I took lots and lots of ibuprofin. I took 3000 mg a day and the max is only 1600. caused tremendous rebounds and also made my blood pressure go through the roof. My doc has since told me that pain killers arent good and I stopped taking them. Since I stopped, the severity and frequency has dropped noticably. I recommend you dont take any pain killers, even prescription. PF Wishes BMonee

Think of how stupid the average person is, and then realize half the population is stupider than that.

Ditto to the above. Have you tried oxygen? It's all natural and not a drug, but might help. Kris

I'm surprised that ibuprofen causes rebound headaches. Anyone know the reason? I've been successfully using O2 this cycle following the advice in the messages.
