anybody use expired imitrex? I have recently. I started a cycle after 2 years of being PF and while waiting for the new prescription to arrive I have resorted to using left over injection kits from the last cycle (expired 18 months ago). They seem to work fine but I'm concerned if I'm doing any damage to myself. Any thoughts?

There are several threads here on this subject. Expired Imitrex is perfectly safe to use up to 10 years after its expiration date. It may lose some effectiveness, but doesn't become toxic in any way. Be sure to store in cool, dry place between cycles. Kris

Thanks Kris I should have used the search function. It is amazing how lazy the combo of the shadows and the low doses of topomax my DR put me on have made me. Things I would have normally just have done I don't do. Thanks again..I feel better already.

I just got through using up most of my expired trex this past cycle. Seemed a little weaker than the fresh stuff (threw in a few fresher shots to mix it up). Of course I live in a hot climate during summer months and left on vacation without setting the A/C. Could possibly explain the weaker shots?? Still worked fine though. I don't know if I could have halved the weaker doeses as suggested to stretch trex on this site. I simply didn't get the same level of flushed feeling and heavier heart pounding I experienced with fresh doses.

I've used lots of expired Trex, never thought they were any less effective. I wouldn't use Trex that has been excessively heated up or exposed to low temperatures. Unsolved

Don't worry about it, I don't think that it ever expires.

Everything expires sooner or later. Just keep it at a constant temp away from heat and light. It should be good for awhile. Ask your doc, and listen to him/her. I've used plenty of it myself.
