Imitrex "heat" sensation

I did my first injection if trex yesterday and got an extreme rush of heat to my face and head. Shot up my neck on the left, spread to top of head and down other side of neck and into face. Is this normal?

The first few times I used an Imitrex injection I wasn't sure what was worse- the CH or the feeling I got from the injection. I had basically every symptom the package insert said someone might possibly get. I felt like I was dying and my brain was on fire. It was horrible. Now my CH's without an abortive can last for 2 or 3 hours. I've learned to love the injections. And actually I think the symptoms decrease the more you use the injections. Or I'm just used to them- either way- it will get better.

If I were you ... I'd follow Vig's lead and try smaller doses. Extreme heat (or what I describe as the 'sunburnt' feeling) can be a cardiac event. Unsolved

When my hair catches on fire, I know the HA will soon be gone. *smile* Actually, ditto to the above, lesser doses mean lesser side effects for the most part. There are a number of ways to split doses with the autoinject - otherwise, you might try getting your doc to order multidose vials and syringes. However - chances are you''ll notice the side effects less, the more times you're forced to use the stuff. PF Days to You! Kris

Ya the feeling of Trex working is NOTHING compared to an attack however so don't worry about it. O2 may be a little nicer about it but it takes longer to kick in. You get used to the feeling of a shot in short time so don’t let it keep you from using it when you need it. Be happy that you are one of the ones that can use it. Many clusterheads can’t.

| Me too!!! I found that about 1/3 of an injection will give me relief for the most part without the hair on fire feeling.

Could someone describe, in detail, how to split the shot from autoinjector in 1/2? I think that would be plenty. I'm a small person 100, 5' 7", 135lbs.

it seems the more often you use imitrex the less u have that feeling. then if u stop using it and have to go back to it, starts all over again. sometimes i get stomach whoozy too! IMITREX ARE LITTLE ANGELS!
