it works for me!!!!

Greetings my fellow unfortunates!
Iv'e been suffering from CH's for 18 yrs. A long time ago my mother told me that she read that if you run your hands under hot water it helps. Well, it didn't. What I did just discover recently though is that if I get in a hot hot shower(please don't scald yourselves) and alternate between letting the water beat down on the back of my neck for 30 seconds to the top, front of my head for 5 seconds, on the side of the CH, it takes the pain away instantly and ends the CH after a few minutes!
Now, I don't know why I haven't tried this before because I don't know if works because because of the verapamil I am on now too or if it would work without it.
I have tried everything. O2, imatrex, zomig, prednisone, verapamil,by itself, narcotics etc. and nothing ever worked. (i think the zomig lessened the duration of the CH's but not the pain) and the hot shower has now worked 4 for 4.

I reckon that grabbing the bar of soap, and banging it against the CH side doesn't work here 
..at least you'll be wet and ready to wash with that soap if the hot water works for ya, eh..?

Heat/cold have been the subject of many messages here over the years. Some folks get relief from putting their heads in the freezer!--or putting a package of frozen peas/corn on the pain spot. (No magic in the veg--just that they conform to the shape of our head easily.) others use the hot shower routine--apparently both work.
For a time, when my cluster pain was focused in my left temple area, I got relief from blasting a hot hair dryer there.

D has taken more hot showers than we could ever count (and alternated the hot shower w/ icepacks) . . .so many, in fact, that we wanted a 500 gallon hot water heater for our cabin . . . I don't know that they worked or if they shortened . . .or if they were more of a placebo? But, he did em . . .god, I'm glad I haven't heard the shower running in the middle of the night for a long time . . .

I took a hot bath once during one...it about killed me. I do use an ice cold pack on the pain side, usually P/F in about 10-20 minutes along with my trex. And I'm sorry but there's no way LiL Jeff will let me punch one out, even with the best porn on!

speaking of hot and cold temp's. I do know I sleep(a few minutes here & there) in a room that is so cold in the winter you can see your breath. It has to be cold or forget it, good for cuddling (if you're not alone)
