This is probably a dumb question, but o2 as effective when breathed through the mouth?  I was just prescribed it yesterday.  I haven't had to use it yet, and I have a terrible cold, so just wondering. Smiley

The lungs are the place where the oxygen passes to the blood.
Therefore, it doesn't matter by which way you fill the lungs.
But the important matter is, that you fill the lungs with 100% oxygen. The use of a non-rebreather mask (with the reservoir bag) helps to keep the surrounding air from diluting the oxygen.

Yeah, doesn't matter how the oxygen gets to the lungs.  One thing is important with respect to having or avoiding a cold - make sure the oxygen is humidified.  Does your apparatus have a bubbler thingy or a water dome?

A bubbler thingy is a covered plastic "cup" filled with water that attaches to the o2 tank and provides the o2 with moisture.  No, I didn't get one with my tank and mask,(non-rebreather), so I'm going back today to purchase one.  Thanks for the info everyone!
