Getting desperate here!

Yesterday, my neuro gave me the option of inpatient DHE or a prednisone taper, as the beast has been absolutely terrible lately.  It is like a bad cycle within my chronic life.

Anyway, back to yesterday.  I received steroid nerve block of supra orbital and supra trochlear notches, 100 mg demerol, 25 mg phenergan and medrol (sp?) dosepak.

Came home slightly off balance and tried to crash but had ants crawling all over me (not really but you couldn't convince me at the time) and I itched all over.  I started the medrol taper and slept in this morning as well.  Took my medrol today as well and have slept out the effects of the phenergan/demerol.

All should be pain free?  WRONG

Not an hour after getting up, after being pain free for almost 24 hours due to pain injection, I'm getting hit while at the first day of the taper.  Shouldn't the medrol taper be stopping the beast?  The only good news is I feel no pain in the supra orbital and supra trochlear nerve area but all the rest is still screaming at me.

How long until a taper begins to knock down the beast?

frustrated,
renee

edit for spelling

Eddie,

You might have solved it!  I am taking the medrol dose pak at 4 mg per pill.  6 pills today, 5 tomorrow, etc which means a total of only 24mg today and downward from there.

Heck, I feel nervous from this dosage but I gotta get more pred apparently if this is gonna work.

thanks for your input,
renee

yes this summer i did 2 paks of medrol dos pak and
it didnt do anything but temp the CH
i went to my doc and told him about
this dose of pred taper cause i have
used it before back then didnt know
what i had but it would help. but i also
told my doc about the verapamil240mg and imitrex
and o2 the verapamil took the egde off and i also
take xanax also but i try to time it after i take pred
that way it does help it to work better same thing
with the verapamil.also imtrex helps. i still have this
chronic stuff but i do smile alot more now. the prednisone is hard to take year after year but
i have taken it since i was 23 now im 40 so it
has worked me over good.but it does work but
it is bad too. i hpe you can work out the right dose
for you. ask the doc for verapamil and xanax . i would
if i were you. it will keep those ants away.
PFDAN to your friend eddie and good luck
