Decadron...experiences??

Hi all,

Well went to Neuro last Tuesday and we discussed several options, one being Decadron instead of the pred tapers I've used.

I'm entering week 17 and although not getting slaughtered(fingers crossed), Still getting hit. Intensitiy (for the most part) is down, as is duration and frequency yet when they do come they come on super fast.

My hesitence in changing meds (using verapamil as a prevent) or adding to my cocktail is because I'm getting married in November and although I want this thing wiped out I am at a point where I am functioning.

Well here's my point (sorry for my typical babble):

I've already done 2 pred tapers and nothing really happened at all with the last one so although I may try one more time....

I was curious about people's experience with Decadron.
I know it is supposed to be a doozy of a roid but that's about all I know other than what I have read on the med. sites.

Any stories or input is appreciated.

Thanks,

Eric

PS. Decadron is Dexamethasone.

Eric,
Unsolved posted this on my thread about my symptoms  in the Cluster Specific zone. Check out the link.....it helps because it shows how much pred=how much decdron.  It helped me understand the med a lot better. You might want to PM him about it.

I'm a decadron newbie...was just given it at my last appt and haven't test driven it yet.  Sorry I can't be any help there.

Be well and PF

Eric,

Decadron is the steroid my old neuro used to put me on all the time.  However, it never did a thing for me.  The pred is the first and only steroid taper that helped, aside from getting solumedrol while in the hospital lots of times.  I dunno if I just go on a lot higher dose of the pred than I used to take of the decadron or what.  Anyhow, pred didn't work for me at all the last time, and it has been sort of a 50/50 shot with me.  Pick your poison I guess!  I now have to stop (or at least cut way back) on taking the steroids because of developing the beginnings of osteoporosis.  That ain't any fun either!
