I went to a holistic neurologist the other day.She costed $175.00 an hour, and the initial eval was three hours.I work in a doctors office, and one of the doctors referred me to her.It was cool, because all of the doctors took up a pool and paid the cost for me.How awesome was that!? The neuro told me about pain gel.All it is,is a benzocaine type substance with camphor. She told me to swab it in the affected side in the nostril as far as you can get it without hurting yourself. It works very well.I did some research, and it's basically the same thing as the toothache gel ambesol.Pain gel costs $70.00 a jar,but ambesol only costs 5 bucks. It gives pretty good relief if you do it before the cluster hits full on.Hope this will help some people.I have had clusters for 20 years, and this helps better than anything I have tried. For 5 bucks, give it a try.Good luck. P.S-use a healthy dose of it.

Funny thing, I asked my Neuro years ago about this. He said, sure, it might work, but you have to put the Q-Tip waaay in on the side that hurts. He then proceeded to show me with a Q-Tip the size of a chopstick. He puts it in, until it was uncomfortable, and then he really rammed it in. Holy $hit!!! I thought it was going to come out through my tear duct! So one day, I'm waiting for the paharmacy to call back saying that they have Trex available. I get hit. No "regular Anbesol at home, only "Baby Anbesol" I figured, what the heck, at least I'll be doing something... I proceed with a regular size Q-Tip, all the way, got it to the point I remembered and then.....nothing, pain continued and everything smelled like grape for a few hours.... If it works for you..Cool. Ozzy
