Can Anyone Get this Journal Article ??

Several researchers are looking into CGRP inhibitors as a treatment for clusters.  I am trying to identify natural (non-patented and affordable) CGRP inhibitors.  I know that another species of Croton (sangre de grado) has a proanthocyanidin that inhibits cgrp, Keishi-bukuryo-gan inhibits cgrp and hot flashes, and Codonopsis (Don Shen) is also believed to be a cgrp inhibitor.   This abstract was written to taunt me!!  Anyone got access to this journal??

A number of plant species used in traditional medicine for the relief of pain have been selected from the medicinal and scientific literature of China, South America, Asia and West Africa. Extracts were prepared and tested in three in vitro receptor radioligand binding assays to determine whether there was an indication of biological activity, in particular their selectivity to a single receptor implicated in the mediation of pain. The three neuropeptide receptors chosen were Bradykinin (BK II), expressed in Chinese hamster ovary cells (CHO), neurokinin 1 (NK 1) expressed in astrocytoma cells, and calcitonin gene related peptide (CGRP) which were all implicated in the mediation of acute pain in the mammaliancentral nervous system. The plant species chosen to investigate were Ageratum conyzoides, Barringtonia edulis, Croton tiglium, Ipomea pes-caprae, Panax ginseng, Physostigma venenosum, Sinomenium acutum, Solidago virgaurea, Symplocos leptophylla and Typhonium giganteum. The results showed that there was a strong indication of biological activity for some of the plants which are used ethnomedicinally to treat pain, in the three in vitro receptor binding assays used, and particular plant extracts exhibited selective action to a single receptor. Bah I tried.  Looks like Jefferson doesn't subscribe to that journel in hard copy in the library and we don't have access to it online.  I'll try a few other things later, but I did try a few different access ideas just now!  Sorry!

I can't get it either.  You're probably aware that you can buy it online for $25 if you're desperate.   Shocked

I'll try a few other ways before shelling out $25 -  since sending my kid to college, my bank account is near zero.  On the other hand, maybe she can get it through the library at her school.  Thanks for trying.

Sorry....the closest thing I could find was a journal called:" Phytomedicine:International Journal of Phytotherapy and Phytopharmacology" from the years 2002 through 2004. I know that probably doesn't help you out too much.  Sorry. Samantha
