Hi all

I am the one that just got his first O2 tank and my mask sucks.

So what I have just been Experimenting with is just using the hose directly. My question is, is this dangerous or not ?

At least now I am getting 100% O2 and not half air.

cheers,
Yogi

I had no problems except for dryness irritation.
Are you using a medical or welding setup?
A non rebreather mask should provide you with nearly 100% O2, but I could never deal with the mask.
I believe that being able to intake through your nose probably helps get O2 to your head quicker, maybe... But I've had good results with just the hose.

So the answer to your question is no... At least from my experience.

In ordinary breathing the lungs only inflate so far until in- and outside pressure are equal.
If you apply the higher pressure directly from the hose you might end up like the

Michelin Man.

Be careful!

BTW, with the proper use of a non-rebreather mask you'll get 100% oxygen too.

Ueli's exactly right here.  The risk of huffing directly out of the hose is that you can tear lung tissue.  For this reason, you need a NRB mask and a flow regulator.

ONCE AGAIN - we need you over at OUCH Canada, Dave.  We have another sufferer in Victoria that is in desparate need of a good cluster neuro in your area.  Their GP told them he wouldn't prescribe oxygen because it's so addictive.    Roll Eyes Thankfully, this supporter developed very sharp teeth and, after a good butt kicking, she walked away with a script for O2.  Please?  Tell us your neuro's name?
