Triptans not an option

Have dailey shadows with a few monsters thrown in.Sometimes like today a kip 3-4 monster and growing all day.I'm sure by tonight I'll be in a full blown CH. All I can do is O2 with 75 mg of Voltaren X 2.Do take 9 mg of melentonin every night and 120 mg Nadolol.But the monster still kicks my ass.Been to Mich.Head and Pain,but all they did was take my money.Had a heart attack on 8/24 and witch doctor said no more triptans.Any help out there?I've looked at the Clusterbusters site but damn where in the hell do you find this stuff? I've had cronic CH for 5 years now and ready to try anything .HELP!!

Yeah, that's the hard part. The official recommendation is to buy spores (legal in the US except in California and Georgia) and grow your own. That takes time, of course. The FAQ at Clusterbusters lists some spore suppliers.
Another option is to visit the Netherlands or the UK, where shrooms are sold legally in shops. Also on some Carribean islands shroom tea or shroom punch is sold openly in the bars.
Psilocybin mushrooms can be found in the wild...well actually in cow pastures, growing on the cow pies... in many parts of the world. But proper identification is critical. In some places, there are poisonous mushrooms that might look like shrooms to the untrained eye. And they can destroy your liver and kill you.
Buying from illegal dealers on the street is not recommended... there are cases where non-hallucinogenic mushrooms, or even poisonous mushrooms, have been spiked with LSD or something nastier, like phencyclidine (PCP). And if your an old fart like me, you might not even know who to ask.

-tommyD-man is right on. Grow your own. Since you're a filthy chronic, it's not like you're going to run out of CH's anytime too soon. Time to think ahead......and the whole program is almost NitWit proof (assuming the damned shrooms work for you.).
Go order some grain based Mycobags, and a batch of spores. If you have trouble reading the directions, just look at the pictures. Once you stab a bag full of spores, throw it in a dark closet for about a month, then sit the bag in a semi-lit area that's in the 70's.Wait a bunch of days, and you're home free. You should have mass quan-titties of the little devils drying on your window sills in no time. Take as directed.
Once your CH is gone, you can go back to drinking beer, smoking pot, and lecherous debauchery every day. Thank Mr. tommyD for the tip.......he really DOES know what he's talking about (for a wannabe Southern Baptist.)

Olanzapine as an Abortive Agent for Cluster Headache.

OBJECTIVE: To evaluate olanzapine as a cluster headache abortive agent in an open-label trial. BACKGROUND: Cluster headache is the most painful headache syndrome known. There are very few recognized abortive therapies for cluster headache and fewer for patients who have contraindications to vasoconstrictive drugs. METHODS: Olanzapine was given as an abortive agent to five patients with cluster headache in an open-label trial. The initial olanzapine dose was 5 mg, and the dose was increased to 10 mg if there was no pain relief. The dosage was decreased to 2.5 mg if the 5-mg dose was effective but caused adverse effects. To be included in the study, each patient had to treat at least two attacks with either an effective dose or the highest tolerated dose. RESULTS: Five patients completed the investigation (four men, one woman; four with chronic cluster, one with episodic cluster). Olanzapine reduced cluster pain by at least 80% in four of five patients, and two patients became headache-free after taking the drug. Olanzapine typically alleviated pain within 20 minutes after oral dosing and treatment response was consistent across multiple treated attacks. The only adverse event was sleepiness. CONCLUSIONS: Olanzapine appears to be a good abortive agent for cluster headache. It alleviates pain quickly and has a consistent response across multiple treated attacks. It appears to work in both episodic and chronic cluster headache.

Olanzapine has a brand name of "Zyprexa" and is a antipsychotic. Don't be put off by this primary usage. Several of the drugs used to treat CH are cross over applications, that is, drugs approved by the FDA for one purpose which are found to be effective with unrelated conditions--BJ.
