just a simple question when starting a prednison taper is it best to be med free or just stay on your medication? In my case verampamiel and melatonin. My easy life since  April of only small atacks has ended and my CHes have come back in avangence so my neuro put me on prednisone and later we are going to try verampamiel again.

Stay on the meds. Pred is a short term preventative best used in conjunction with a long term preventative such as verapamil. If you are already on verap and it's not helping, you may want to increase the dosage, with docs supervision of course... Or find another prevent...

Pred worked good for me. It took me out of a 2 yr cycle. I'm not sure if it was the pred or just the end of my long ass cycle, but it ended about 80% of my headaches within a day or two. Hpefully it will do the same for you!

When on the pred, make sure you take a calcium replacement.  Viactive or whatever it is called.  The pred zaps a ton of calcium out of your body, esp your bones.  This info was given to my by a dietitian when I was on it for a different med prob.
