Hello! It may say junior under my name, but I'm still a newbie with oxgen. I know when it's too late for oxygen- that isn't hard to mistakenly figure out, but when is a good time to start it? Should I use it when my eye goes nuts with the first ten million sneezes in a row or when the pain hits me? or is it too neurotic of me to even be asking this question at all? (I tend to make things way harder than they need to be...aaak!) Thanks, -lionsound

Hi Lionsound I expect you may get 10 different answers here, but for me, I use it at the first sign of any pain whatever, even mild shadows. I also use it for migraine and hangovers! I haven't tried using it when I just get the other symptoms (like trigeminal discomfort in my jaw) and no 'head' symptoms as logic says it wouldn't affect them, so no idea if there is any point doing that. The biggest message which you already know but it is worth repeating for new 02 users though is not to wait until the pain gets bad, for me that is when 02 fails and I have to resort to Imigran Wendy

| Ditto here. If I have it accessible, I use it at the first sign. Why should you wait? It doesn't work all the time but it's sure worth a try. Robert

I would advise hitting it as soon as possible, and that is what I do, however, when I get the 2am wake-up attack, it's usually already rolling and I have always been able to abort that one with o2. Even if I couldn't get to the o2 as soon as possible, I would still try it. It's not like you have anything else to do anyway, and the worst that happens is you waste a little o2.

If I even think Im gonna get a twinge, I will hit the oxygen. If oxygen is available, you could not pay me to wait even a single microsecond.

I hit it as soon as possible, 100% non-rebreather mask with bag at 12 lpm. If I get to it early enough it will usually abort within 10-15 minutes. even if it doesn't abort or I get to it late it still seems to take the edge off. When things are real bad I find it difficult to keep the mask on my face. I usually use lidocane, nasal spray, at the first sign. this will ease the pain slightly (VERY slightly) but more importantly the mask doesn't bother me as much with my nose and sinus numbed out.
