Huh Has anyone ever tried using Maxaran as an abortive method?

Maxaran is an anti-nauseant commonly used for the treatment of cancer patients.

In our case it is said to have some vessel dialation effects.

Has anyone on here ever tried it?

Additional Information
Once a medicine has been approved for marketing for a certain use, experience may show that it is also useful for other medical problems. Although these uses are not included in product labeling, metoclopramide is used in certain patients with the following medical conditions:

Failure of the stomach to empty its contents
Nausea and vomiting caused by other medicines
Persistent hiccups
Prevention of aspirating fluid into the lungs during surgery
Vascular headaches

Don........have you ever tried it?

The CPS med book and Merck Manual both list it as an abortive med for CH, I was wondering if anyone has had success with it.

Nope. I wouldn't get to excited about it if I were you. If it was effective I think others would have discovered it by now. I've seen some Reglan posts but not many.

I've only ever used Reglan as a premedication for when i get DHE in the hospital.  Reglan is mostly used for GI related stuff, but I guess it could work on headaches? I think I've only ever heard it used that way once or twice.  Never helped my headaches, but it didn't help nausea/vomiting for me either!  But if you do try it, good luck!

Metoclopramide HCl (Reglan, Maxaran) is an antiemetic. It is often co-administered to combat nausea with other heavy drugs (like DHE (Dihydroergotamine) infusion).

I didn't find anything about metoclopramide and clusters on the Merck site. Anyway, I wouldn't trust a  site that contains the following gem: From the Merck Manual Quote:
Most people with cluster headaches need to take drugs to prevent recurrences. Drugs include those used to prevent migraines, verapamil, lithium, indomethacin, and, occasionally, methysergide. Oxygen, given by nasal prongs, or the corticosteroid methylprednisolone, given by mouth, can stop (abort) a cluster headache as it is beginning.
                       (Don't try this at home)

On Googling I found one reference to combining sumatriptan with metoclopramide to abort meegraines. Metoclopramide blocks the activity of dopamine, which plays a role in M and is responsible for the often accompanying nausea.
With clusters nausea is rare, and an orally taken pill is anyway to slow to abort a cluster attack.

If metoclopramide has "some vessel dialation effects" it would be counter-indicated for clusters, it would be a trigger like alcohol.

BTW, metoclopramide can also combat flatulence. Therefore, it should be of help for Hub.
