The official definition is one year without a 30 day pain free interval, I believe. That definition also sucks and is disconnected from reality. The typical episodic clusterhead goes through a period of 8-12 weeks and then it stops. That is not you. But since you won't qualify as chronic for another 4 months, according to current medical logic, you are episodic.

Hi there fun bobbi(pasted again from the other thread- we should agree to wipe one of them or this is going to get confusing!) Sounds like not funbobbi to me life sounds tough! Doesn't appear that either applies, sounds more like either paroxysmal hemicrania or chronic paroxysmal hemicrania or a condition called Idiopathic stabbing headache http://www.upstate.edu/neurology/haas/hpstab.htm http://www.ninds.nih.gov/health_and_medical/disorders/paroxysmal_hemicra nia.htm Do you get a runny nose/eyes or other symptoms as well? If so, there is also a possibility of SUNCT syndrome, which is rarer. Have you seen a neuro? Most good neuros will do an indomethacin therapeutic trial at the outset for most patients whose headache duration may suggest one of these conditions as they are all indomethacin responsive, and in the case of PH/CPH there is a 100% success rate. Has to be worth a few days of your life to try it as that is all it takes to work if it is going to work Wendy
