Oh yes. I'm sure many others have used it or are still currently using it. Maxalt is a Triptan Triptans: Sumatriptan (Imitrex), Alomotriptan (Axert), Naratriptan (Amerge), Frovatriptan (Frova), Rizatriptan (Maxalt, Maxalt MLT), Zolmitriptan (Zomig, Zomig ZMT), Relpax (Eletriptan). It didn't help me much. Only Imitrex injections work for me. Best of Luck, Unsolved I'm sure others will reply with experiences also w/ this drug.

It makes me feel worse, and I guess what I am wondering is this a common reaction. My head and jaw get to hurting so bad!!! I get sick too my stomach, and for the first ten to fifteen minutes of it, I just wish I could step out of my body until the med wears off. I dread my headaches for two reasons now. Sorry so down, I just started another cycle again.

I take the maxalt mlt 10 dissolving pill. I've taken imitrex in the past. Not sure if you are simply getting used to the triptan, or if you are having residual pain and/or shadows from the cluster attacks. You could be sensitive to the medication... a lot of times when you first start taking the triptan it can have some unpleasant side effects - in my case, they went away after a day or so. At first, when taken orally, can cause gacky feeling...dunno So far the only real difference i've noticed between imitrex and maxalt is that imitrex seems to abort quickly no matter what pain level you are at...whereas maxalt works slower and if i don't take it rite away i'm doomed.

yeah I waited too long one time and thought that I was dying!!! I have tried the orally dissolving pills and that was way worse. At least this is better. I guess I hope for too much in a med. I am looking for something that will keep me at high level of functioning so that I can attend work and take care of my two year old. I just can't accept that I am different now. Thank for all your help everyone!!! mj

My doctor sold me on the "amazing new triptan" Maxalt a couple of years ago and I filled out an expensive script for 6 of them. It was the biggest dissapointment and waste of money for me. The did sweet F... All for my CH. Thankfully I still had some imigran/imitrex injections! The only surefire rapid CH buster for me. Maybe you will have better luck, but I reckon Maxalt might only be good for migraines. John

I found that it took WAY too long to take effect. Imatrex takes effect quicker for me. When it works, that is!

Maxalt was the first drug I tried. It worked only if I took it the first few seconds I felt the pain. It worked for me for about 6 months (I'm a chronic) and then just didin't work at all. So far Neurontin is the only drug that's worked consistently. It doesn't make the HA go away, but it dulls the pain enough for me to function.
