im having sucsess with adderall

its been awhile since i posted here i went 9 month cluster free two months ago thou man did they come back i had to change what i thought a ten an the pain scale was , i had 5 relpaxes left i went thru them fast , i was totally dependent on real hot very long showers to the point of burning my skin .
my family is very aware of my problem and my father was visiting me and he got a first hand view of what i was going thru i was begging for him to just knock me out he went on this web site and began to read my father is a pyhcologist excuse the bad spelling , he read about the different treatments and asked me if i was willing to try something that might help he takes adderall for bipolar and addh i was in about 9 on the pain scale 20 minutes later it was gone now granted it wakes you up but id rather be awake painless then to be awake begging someone to just end it for you.
i have addh as well but i never took anything for it so he took me to see a doctor he know i was given a one months supply 60 pills two aday which in the usa cost $217 compared to 9 relpax pills at $185 itell you the gods honest truth zero headaches it just stopped the dead in there tracks its been 6 days and i was in the worst and longest cycle ive ever been thru , i relayed this info to my doctor wich has 4 other people with clusters one is cronic , he said the fda has not approved this pill for treating this condtion but he was going to look into it and see if it might help the others . i know the pain im a headbanger and if this helps just one person out there its worth it

Good luck to whatever works for you, but I have my suspicions that Adderall was actually a contributing factor to this first cluster headache of mine. I came down with this horrid condition only weeks after taking the med to improve my concentration. It is probably just coincidence but I swear I'm never touching that stuff again, even though I still have a full bottle of it left. You know how it is, trying to eliminate possible 'triggers'. Well for me, that could have been it.

Hi Cazman,
Thanks for sharing your experiences. There are several reports in the archives of success with Ritalin (a similar schedule II CNS stimulant), so your story is not totally surprising to me. Personally, I think Ritalin has helped me a bit with shadows in the past, but it never prevented the full-blown attacks for me. Obviously, since it is a schedule II controlled substance, caution is warranted. Good luck and here's to wishing you more success.

im taking it as directed in i hope it works out for me it would be nice to kill two birds with one stone, i aware of the possibilty of a dependence im monitoring with the doctor i was only give some for one month hell will check me out before continuing.

You know I'd been wondering about a coorelation between ADHD or ADD and cluster. I've never been diagnosed ADD but my family certainly thinks it's a possibility. My son has been diagnosed ADD but we've not tried meds for him as of yet.
As far as the meds, I say whatever works for ya if it keeps the pain away. Just about everything I've ever been on has major side effects and could be addictive. The question is, is it worth it to you. That depends on where you're at. I personally would make the trade when I'm getting slammed with 10's around the clock. Addiction is better than suicide.
Just earlier this week I was in a chat room saying I didn't want to go on any meds. I'd been pain free for almost two years, and believe it or not, had forgotten what a 10 feels like. I got hit with two 10's mid day yesterday. I ended up in the ER (for the first time ever) begging for whatever they could give me just to take the edge off.
Please keep us informed. I would be very interested to see how this pans out for you.

its working still but the meds have one side affect i dont like it makes you speedy which is understandable because of what it is but it is working yesterday i had a slight shadow for about an hour it was very bareable but you cant help but wonder is it gonna get me or not thankfully it went away .
thats an interesting point i wonder if add is connected in anyway to this i guess that would take a poll of some sort to find out ..
bottom line is when you go thru 10 after 10 after every night for weeks on and on you will do what ever itakes to make it stop ill take the chance as i said befre the other option of killing my self is not an option at all for me i love my kids way to much .
