Verap side effects

My doc put me on Verap last year at the end of my cycle after I discovered this site and realized that I didn't need to suffer anymore.  The cycle ended after about a week on the Verapamil.  I started to get some pretty loud ringing in my ears that actually kept me awake at night.  So I stopped the Verap.  I am now getting close to the start time of my cycle and have been taking the Verap again.   The ringing has been growing louder and louder.  I can deal with it during the day, but at night it sucks.

Anyone else have this side effect?  I am going to call the doc tomorrow, just wanted to know if anyone had any ideas whether the verap is causing this.   Since finding this site, I always try to go to the doc armed with info.

thanks for any help and advise.

Then it probably wasn't the verapoamil that stopped it. It takes 7-14 days for the verapamil to reach a theraputic level. But who cares as long as the cycle ended.

I have no side effects from the verapamil but but I dont experiance side effects from any meds. Except prednisone when I devour small imported vehicles that pass by.

Tinnitus is not listed as a side effect of Verapamil. But that does not mean there is no connection. I myself have some ringing in the ear, contralateral ( Grin on the opposite side to) my CH. It's not very loud, no comparison to the church bells every morning at 06:01, which don't wake me up either.

Since you suspect a connection, maybe another calcium channel blocker than Verapamil might be better. Talk to your doc about this.

I agree that the Verap was not responsible for the end of the cycle.  I was on the down side when I went to the doc the first time.

I spoke to the doc today and he suggested that I give the verap more time...a few more weeks and lets see if the riging gets worse.  He felt as well that there might not me any connection.

So I'm to call him when I get back from the Delaware shore in August to set up an appointment for a full work over.  I think its interesting that this is my primary care doc and he's taken a complete interest in my case and its progress.

Thanks for the comments folks. Smiley

Following some links about verapamil and tinnitus as its side effect, found by Prof. Google:

List of drugs which may cause tinnitus, comment: only information that is verified through the medical and pharmaceutical literature has been included in this list  - verapamil is listed there!

But not only verapamil, also other calcium channel blockers are listed there.

And: Interestingly enough, verapamil is also used in the tratment of tinnitus...
