Good News for Sufferers

I just became aware of this website and have some encouraging words for you.

I am an 80 yearold male who got migraine when 10 and cluster when 30.  A specialist at the Cleveland Clinic told me when 30 that I would grow out of cluster when 65, and he was right on.
Unbelievable, but true.

I still get the aura periodically, but not the nausea nor the headache.

I don't know if this will be the case for everyone, but it just might be.  Think positively.  It won't hurt, and it might be so for you.

That's great Pinetop, you were very lucky to find a Doc. fifty years ago that had any clue about clusterheadaches. I couldn’t find one for five years twenty five years ago. This subject had been discussed "in the literature" and it seems that a few folks do have remission with age, but not many. I know of one on this board named Charlie. We can always hope though.

Thanks,

I read somewhere -- maybe on this site -- that men can begin to outgrow it by their 50's.

Not women -- we have another 10 years or so.

Yet another reason we are so lucky -- we can really look forward to old age.

Very happy for you Pinetop, but wish it were true, a substantial proportion of CH sufferers calling the Helpline are men in their 60-70's. This is often because they are the group that do not have computers so can't access CH websites, but it is still large numbers who are still suffering Ch attacks.
