Philosophers Stone - the legal shroom

I haven't tried this one myself yet, but I have a sensible friend that used it recreationally and his report was positive. Psilocybe Tampanensis is a truffle, and is legal in most places. In addition to psilocybin and psilocin it contains numerous other lesser know psychoactive substances. The trip is reportedly smoother with less tendancy towards anxiety. It does however last about twice as long as a shroom trip. A light dose is 5g fresh, so I'd recommend shooting for 2.5g fresh. The truffles are around 50% water and very easy to dry, so 1g of dried truffle would be another good place to start. The truffles are legal in most places both fresh and dry. I suggest that anyone consider this option do some more research before giving it a go. I'll probably get hold of some myself. Flash

| No - they should cost around <$4 per gram fresh.

| Not a lawyer, but I understand that any material containing psilocybin is illegal in the US. From Erowid: Quote:Psilocybin mushrooms are not specifically named in the U.S. federal scheduling system, however their two primary active chemicals Psilocybin and Psilocin are both Schedule I in the United States. This makes them illegal to buy, sell, or possess without a DEA license. Fresh and dried psilocybin mushrooms are considered containers of Psilocybin and Psilocin, making them illegal to possess as well. Because spores contain no psilocybin or psilocin, they are legal to sell and possess (in all states except California and Georgia). But in most states, it is illegal to cultivate or propogate spores into mycelium since mycelium generally contains both psilocybin and psilocin. http://www.erowid.org/plants/mushrooms/mushrooms_law.shtml |
| The fact that it is a 'truffle' is not likely to make a legal difference as far as I know. Sclerotium (truffles) are different from the fruiting bodies of fungi, but the law does not ban parts of fungi or even species of fungi - it bans psilocybin and psilocin.

What a pound or kilo costs is irrelevant since nobody should need to purchase anything like that quantity.

| Dunno, maybe not - the term 'philosopher's stone' goes back to alchemy - it was the hypothetical substance that could transmutate matter - lead into gold, for example.

While the sclerotia-producing species of psilocybe (P. tampanensis, P. mexicana) have advantages for clusterheads when compared to the mushroom-producing species, legality unfortunately is not one of them -- at least in the United States and Canada. Both species are definitely illegal in North America. It may be diferent in Holland and the UK. pinky

| Add the British Virgin Islands to the list. A stone's throw from Puerto Rico and the US Virgin Islands.
