but I'm growing....tired of waiting for these blasted things.

got 2 cc of psilocybe stratopharia in a myco bag for 5 months now---they've been FULLY colonized since mid-march but all I can see is a faint shadow of the middle finger pointing up at me!

Anyone go through this before? My first batch several years ago of cubensis grew like they were on a mission.

And yes, I did hop over to clusterbusters first--whadda think, I'm tripping?

Ditch the grow bags and go through the misery of the PF Tech, it aint as bad as it looks. But you must be halfway sober to do it right.  laugh

Yeh. We're with forgetfulnot on this. PF tek  is SO EASY and Cubensis B+ are the easiest to grow.

Could be that its just too hot where you are at the moment and with some cultivars, it is possible to hurry up their pinning by placing the bag in the refrigerator overnight, but I have no experience of the cultivar you are using. Maybe you could ask the supplier or seek info from some of the forums at the shroom sites? Mycotopia has an active message board.

Good luck

Curious timing, nots.

My bags just pinned heavily in the last 48hrs (4 out of 6 bags), about two weeks after full colonization.  Ecuadors.

I did put two of the bags in the fridge overnight, both of which are among those pinning.

Also sliced open two bags, putting the cakes in a tupperware-style container.  One of those is pinning.

All mine originally went dormant... the bags only half colonized.  I crumbled them up, added a very small amount of sterile water, then watched them fully colonize like a banshee.

Mayhaps you should crumble.

Good luck.

5 months??? Do you watch paint dry for entertainment?
LOL
I guess this is one of those, "you're a better man than I" moments, Nots..

There might be a few things you need to do differently with this species but I'd suggest, if you haven't already tried...

1. Cold shock the bag overnight in the crisper drawer of the fridge.
2. If you colonized the bag around 86 +or- degrees, drop the temp down to around 76 degrees for fruiting.
3. Check out the adaptations section of the growers guide for additional tips that might help....like an ice-pack..
http://www.erowid.org/plants/mushrooms/mushrooms_mmgg.shtml

4. Then, put the headphones from a walkman around the bag and play (softly) Comfortably Numb a couple of times.

If this doesn't show pins in a few days, let me know.

You guys are fabulous!

Will take your advice this evening Pinky and probably report back to this thread. Guess I should have posted a while back but the h/a's have been particularly mild thus there wasn't really a need to sit bag-side impatiently.

Next time it's PF tek if a next time is needed.
